<p>SENIORS FIRST BC is looking for a Lawyer who can transition into the Executive Director position in 2018</p><p>SENIORS FIRST BC (formerly BC Centre for Elder Advocacy and Support) </p><p>Position: Lawyer to transition into Executive Director position in 2018 Hours: Full-Time Reports to: Board of Directors Salary: Commensurate with Education and Experience Start Date: August 2017 Application Deadline: 5 p.m. May 8, 2017</p><p>Seniors First BC is a full service non-profit organization which operates the Seniors Abuse and Information Line, the Elder Law Clinic and Legal Advocacy Program, a Victim Services program, and information through our Website, Publications, Workshops and Presentations at various events.</p><p>Positions Overview Lawyer Primary responsibilities are to: Provide legal representation to Elder Law Clinic clients, and maintains a case load of Elder Law Clinic clients. Our clients are generally older adults who are low income or who face barriers to obtaining legal services elsewhere.</p><p> Represent clients in court, at tribunals, in alternate dispute resolution settings and carries out formal and informal advocacy on behalf of clients. </p><p> Work effectively in a team environment with other Seniors First BC programs. </p><p> Maintain active participation in the legal community. </p><p> Attend community consultations and advisory committees. </p><p> Present at conferences and other community events.</p><p>The position is to transition into the dual role of Clinic Lawyer and Executive Director over several months. Executive Director</p><p>The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors, and ensures that our programs comply with Board approved policies and direction. </p><p>Primary responsibilities are to: Direct and oversee the operation of Seniors First BC.</p><p> Establish relationships with funders and key stakeholders for funding and program development.</p><p> Speak with media on policy and legal and social advocacy issues.</p><p> Hold regular Board Meetings and the Annual General Meeting.</p><p>The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:</p><p>1. Professional Designation - Called to the Bar in British Columbia, Canada.</p><p>2. Have an understanding of issues that impact older adults including elder abuse. Experience working with older adults would be an asset. </p><p>3. Strong organizational skills combined with strong team-building and interpersonal skills.</p><p>4. A minimum four years’ experience in the practice of law, including direct client work and experience representing clients at court or hearings. </p><p>5.
