<p> Acquisition Lesson Planning Form Plan for the Concept, Topic, or Skill – Not for the Day Unit 2 Lesson 9: Dear Mr. Winston Lesson E ssential Question: What evidence does the author give me to draw a reasonable conclusion from the text? (Conclusions and generalizations) How can questioning extend my understanding of the text? (questioning)</p><p>What do students need to learn to be able to answer the Essential Question? (chunk lesson and plan for formative assessment) Assessment Prompt: Students will be able to read a selection and find 2 text details to make a conclusion about the text. Assessment Prompt: Students will be able to find important details and draw conclusions while reading the core story. Assessment Prompt: Students will determine important text from different scenarios and draw conclusions.</p><p>A ctivating Strategy: (Learners Mentally Active, Link to Prior Knowledge) Students will read 2 different selections and by making generalizations and drawing conclusions they will determine if situations are valid or invalid (see notebook file, day 2) Preview Key Vocabulary: conclusions, generalizations</p><p>Build Background Knowledge of Concept: Read teacher read aloud Read Comprehension: Conclusions & generalizations (anthology page 225 )</p><p>T eaching Strategies: (Active Participation, Collaborative Pairs, Graphic Organizer, Vocabulary in Context, Writing) Graphic Organizer: Vocabulary in Context: Writing: Idea-Support Map, students Teacher read aloud See daily writing prompts will use projectable 9.2 while Read comprehension: reading The Oregon Trail (anthology page 225)</p><p>Collaborative Pairs Activities: Collaborative Pairs Questions: Extending Thinking Activity (Distributed Guided Practice) (Distributed Summarizing) Idea- support map, projectable 9.4</p><p>Instruction:</p><p>AP#1: Students will read practice book page 97, On the Trail, and complete an idea-support map. </p><p>AP#2:As the students read the core story they will complete at least one idea-support map by them finding details in the selection and making a conclusions based on those details (Projectable 9.3a)</p><p>AP#3: The students will be given two different scenarios from the story. They will need</p><p>CAIU, Based on Learning Focused Strategies October 2009 to find 2 supporting details and conclusion about the scenario, projectable 9.4</p><p>S ummarizing Strategies: (Learners summarize, Answer Essential Question) Students will complete practice book page 98, where they will complete their own idea-support map and answer comprehension questions by drawing conclusions </p><p>CAIU, Based on Learning Focused Strategies October 2009</p>
