<p> BYLAW NO 10709</p><p>Being a Bylaw to Deal with the Provision of Ambulance Service Within the City of Edmonton</p><p>WHEREAS City Council provides an ambulance service to the whole of the City of Edmonton.</p><p>NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the City of Edmonton duly assembled enacts as follows:</p><p>1. In this Bylaw;</p><p>(a) “hospital” means a hospital or an auxiliary hospital within the Province of Alberta as defined in the Hospitals Act, R.S.A. 1980, Ch. H-11;</p><p>(b) “inter-hospital transfer service” means a service by which patients are transferred from one hospital to another;</p><p>(c) “patient” means a person who is or appears to be in need of medical attention;</p><p>(d) “public ambulance service” means a service associated directly or indirectly with the transportation of patients using an ambulance, but excluding an inter-hospital transfer service;</p><p>2. The Council hereby prohibits any person other than the City of Edmonton from providing a public ambulance service within the City of Edmonton.</p><p>3. Any person who contravenes section 2 of this Bylaw is guilty of an offense and upon the issuance of an offense ticket, shall pay a fine of $2,500.00.</p><p>4.
