Explain and give examples of:</p><p> a) propositions and non-propositions</p><p> b) analytic and synthetic propositions</p><p> c) different types of non-propositions</p><p>2. Explain what a sound argument is and how you would test it</p><p>3. Understand and explain the difference between deductive and inductive arguments</p><p>4. Understand and give examples of how statements are referred to in symbolic logic</p><p>5. Understand and explain:</p><p> a) the law of negation</p><p> b) the law of contradiction</p><p> c) the law of excluded middle</p><p> d) the law of implication</p><p>6. Explain the difference between necessary and sufficient conditions and give examples</p><p>7. Explain key philosophical puzzles such as:</p><p> a) ‘Theseus’ (which boat is the original one?)</p><p> b) The problem of teleportation</p><p> c) Plato’s Cave</p><p>If you have any problems, come to see Mr Reeve before half-term.</p><p>APR</p><p>May 2015 </p>
