Programmes and the campaign website will keep you up to date with our outreach activities. </p><p>As part of the campaign BBC will be running a 'Frames of Mind' short film competition for young people. They are looking for teams of two or more young people to create a 60 second film around the theme of mental wellbeing. The films should be creative and inspiring. There are four age categories and the short-listed films will be screened at a 'mini-Oscars' event in the QFT in late March. The winning movie makers will win a BBC Blast master class. </p><p>For more information on any of these initiatives check out the website after the 15 January 2007: www.bbc.co.uk/ni/healthyminds </p><p>Go to Top New FENC Website</p><p>An all new FENC web site has been launched with new features such as news articles, a forum and the opportunity to share experiences and good practice. FENC is a charitable organisation that supplies online materials and applications designed to help colleges, schools, universities and training organisations provide excellent results in a virtual learning environment and the wider blended learning space. A FREE trial of the facilities is available to colleges and you can check out the new features at: www.fenc.org.uk</p><p>Go to Top</p><p>JISC Collections Model Licence - Video Presentations Available</p><p>The basis of all JISC Collections and NESLi2 agreements is the JISC Model Licence. These models provide a strong and robust framework for the licensing of online resources for educational purposes. The Models ensure that institutions have flexible use while protecting the publishers'; and digital content owners'; intellectual property.</p><p>If you would like to see a video guide to the licences and the way that they operate, you see them at: JISC Collections | A Guide to the JISC Model Licence video. The video presentations come in a variety of formats and are tailored to audiences such as LR staff, senior managers and students.</p><p>Go to Top</p><p>Call for JISC Collections Representatives in Colleges – Not Too Late to Join</p><p>In order to improve communications between JISC Collections and the JISC community, the newly formed JISC Collections company would like to invite Learning Resource Centre and Library staff to join the JISC Collections Representatives list. </p><p>The JISC Collections Representatives will act as a point of contact within their institution, ensuring that their colleagues receive relevant and appropriate information from JISC Collections. The JISC Collections Representatives will be the first to receive information from JISC Collections, such as the weekly update and will be kept completely up to date about consultations, new resources and the renewal details of existing JISC Collections agreements. You may nominate more than one person from your institution to be a JISC Collections Representative if you wish. </p><p>For details see: JISC Collections | Call for JISC Collections Representatives</p><p>Go to Top</p><p>Satellite Image Data Service – Take Part in a Survey to Gauge Future Interest</p><p>Since August 2004 the Satellite Image Data Service has been a JISC subscription service. JISC is considering a proposal from MIMAS for continued funding for an enhanced satellite image data service. It is proposed to: Supporting Colleges in Development and Use of E-Learning Technologies and Resources . Extend the service for another five years . Make the service free at the point of use, i.e. remove subscriptions to the service . Enhance the service with yearly acquisitions of optical, (Landsat or equivalent like DMC) and radar images (twice a year for Envisat ASAR data) . Develop a range of enhanced educational and support materials (e.g. exemplar use cases) JISC Collections are conducting a short survey to help ascertain demand for a subscription-free satellite image data service for UK higher and further education. Responses are needed by Thursday 19 January 2007.</p><p>Go to Top</p><p>Know UK and European Sources Online Renewal</p><p>JISC Collections is now working with ProQuest on the details of the new licences for Know UK and further details will be available in the New Year. However, it should be noted that the licences for European Sources Online will not be renewed as part of this Agreement. For more details, see: JISC Collections | Know UK and European Sources Online</p><p>Go to Top </p><p>Search Through the OpenDOAR for Repository Content</p><p>OpenDOAR - the Directory of Open Access Repositories - has recently released a trial search service for academics and researchers around the world which allows full-text searching from its list of repositories. </p><p>OpenDOAR already provides a global directory of freely available open access repositories that have been assessed by OpenDOAR staff as being of academic value. Now, with its new service, it also offers a full-text search service from this list of quality-controlled repositories. The trial service has been made possible through the recent launch by Google of its Custom Search Engine, which allows OpenDOAROpenDOAR’s approach to quality assurance helps to minimise spurious or junk results and lead more directly to useful and relevant information to define a search service based on the Directory’s holdings. However, it's not much of a problem to change those names to something more meaningful to you. Just choose Favorites to open the folder. Now right-click a URL that you want to change and choose Rename.
