It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360, in November 2008. This is the fifth major part of the Call of Duty series and brings back the settings in World War II. The game is also the first title in the history of the Black Ops line. World at War received ports with different story versions, remaining in the conditions of World War II, for The Nintendo DS and PlayStation 2. It was the first game in the series to show the zombie mode featured in later sequels. The Windows Mobile version was also available from Glu Mobile. The narrative for the campaign regime focuses on the theaters of the Pacific and Eastern Fronts of World War II involving the United States, the Japanese Empire, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. This is said from the point of view of the marine raider Private K. Miller, the chief of the U.S. Navy Locke and the Red Army soldier Private Dmitry Petrenko, and is based on several historical battles. The multiplayer component of the game contains different game modes and an alignment system that allows the player to unlock additional weapons and rewards as they progress, similar to Call of Duty 4 and repeated in many of the following Call of Duty recordings. Vehicles in the form of tanks, which players can control, appear on certain multiplayer maps. The game also contains downloadable content called card packages that can be purchased online. A new feature of the series was the addition of a cooperative mode that supports up to two players at the local level and four Online. Development for World at War took two years and began after the release of the previous name Treyarch, Call of Duty 3, which was also installed in World War II and was their first name, which they developed for the series. The game is based on an improved version of the IW game engine developed by Infinity Ward with increased audio and visual effects development. Treyarch used the engine to make more parts of certain environments destructible and introduce dismemberment limbs and realistic burns to character patterns. The game was announced by Activision on June 23, 2008. World at War received positive reviews from critics, with praise aimed at its intensity and violent nature, although it received criticism for its lack of innovation. It was also a commercial success, selling 3 million copies in the United States in the first two months after its release, becoming one of the best-selling titles of 2008. It also marked the beginning of Black Ops subseries as characters from the game were moved to its sequel, Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010). The Xbox 360 version of World at War became compatible on Xbox One in September 2016. Gameplay Overview World at War has more mature themes than previous editions of Call of Duty, and it is open, giving the player several ways to achieve goals, but otherwise usually plays like previous iterations of the franchise. Players fight alongside ai-controlled teammates. They help during the missions of the game, providing cover fire, flushing enemies, and clearing rooms to enter. When playing a version of the Wii game, instead of using a regular controller, such as those used by the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, you can use an additional extension controller similar to a gun known as the Wii zapper. The zapper, or Wii Remote and Nunchuk, can be used to aim at targets to shoot at them and simulate apt shooting. The return of the game to the War ii world war once again introduces weapons and technology. The player gets access to them during the game, but can only carry up to two weapons in addition to hand grenades. Weapons and ammunition from fallen enemies or friendly matches can be selected to replace weapons in the player's arsenal. Players can also find weapons with additional attachments, including weapons equipped with rifle grenades, telescopic sights, and bayonets. The character can be located in one of three positions: standing, squatting, or prone; each of them affects the speed of movement of the character, accuracy and stealth. Using cover helps the player avoid enemy fire or regain health after receiving significant damage, as there are no armor or power techniques. When the character is damaged, the edges of the screen glow red and the character's heartbeat increases. If doesn't burn, the character can recover. When the character is inside Radius of the explosion of a live grenade, the marker indicates the direction of the grenade, assisting the player in deciding whether to run or throw it back at the enemy. The one-off campaign includes thirteen hidden death maps marked by playing cards attached to makeshift war graves. There is one in each level (except for those that occur in vehicles); Collecting them unlocks cheats for cooperative mode, such as reducing enemy endurance and paintball mode. The multiplayer experience of the World at War multiplayer program is reminiscent of the experience created in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. All versions of the game use a similar system of delightful and rating system and six multiplayer modes, including command deathmatch and capture of the flag. There are three killstreak awards that can be used to turn the tide of the battle: a reconnaissance plane showing opposing players on a mini-map; artillery strike on the area; and attack dogs that spawn and attack opposing players. They are obtained with 3, 5 and 7 murders, respectively. They are available in all game modes except the survival of the team, and cannot be edited. The gameplay in multiplayer Mode Wars Game also has a cooperative gameplay mode with up to two players across the split screen on consoles, or four players online, for the first time in the franchise. The Wii version of the game does not include an online co-op, but two players can play through the squadmate co-op mode, which allows both players to experience the game through the same screen and perspective. Nazi zombies, originally labeled as side game mode, this mode could get huge success and evaluation after release from fans. Due to the high demand for this new and exciting game mode, three more DLC cards have been added after further progress in the game lifecycle. All versions except the Wii feature mini-games of Nazi zombies. This is the first time Nazi zombies have ever appeared in any Call of Duty game. The regime consists of 1-4 players battling an unlimited number of waves of Nazi zombies. Players can work together with other people to kill zombies in cooperative (cooperative) mode, either offline with 1-2 players or online with 2-4 players. Players score points by injuring or killing zombies or repairing nooring windows that are used to remove debris inside the bunker and gain access to more useful weapons than starting an M1911 pistol and unlocking more rooms. The zombies are constantly breaking windows to get input and down players; When all the players are damaged enough to fall, the game is over. Three of the aforementioned additional maps for the Nazi mode of the game were added with World at War card packages. These cards, Verryukt, Shi No No Noma and Der Riese, are added to the Nacht Der Untoten, who came up with the game. Summary Characters During the eponymous campaign, the player controls three first-person characters The player takes on the role of Private/Pfc C. Miller of the 1st Division of the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Campaign. He was captured by the Japanese, but rescued by Corporal Robaco (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland) and his men from the Marine Raiders during a raid on Makin Island. Other notable unplayable characters from the Marine Raiders include Sgt. Tom Sullivan (voiced by Chris Frieze) and Private Polonsky (voiced by Aaron Stanford). Private Dmitry Petrenko, the second character, fights on the Eastern Front with Sergeant Viktor Reznov (voiced by Gary Oldman). They are joined by a third character, Private Chernov, a subordinate to Reznova, who serves as the voice of reason throughout the campaign and regularly expresses shock and disapproval in the brutal carnage he is witnessing. All of them are soldiers of the 3rd Strike Army under the command of Commissioner Markkhov.
