HOST INSTITUTIONS (And number of award opportunities at each) Brock University (1) Award Theme: Identity, Citizenship and Cultural Studies For applications in: Transnational Studies, Humanities Additional Grant Activity: Teach a course at the undergraduate level and have the opportunity to address the annual Crossing Borders conference. Brock University was founded in 1964 and has been growing rapidly in recent years. Currently enrolling about 17,000 students, the university encourages collaborative work that crosses intellectual and international borders. It is recognized as a comprehensive university with rapidly growing graduate programs in all faculties. Of particular interest is collaboration with neighboring U.S. institutions, and the Fulbright scholar program is part of this larger initiative. The Centre for North American Politics and Society is the only research center in Canada devoted to the study of the North American region. The Centre brings together distinguished academics from the Departments of Political Science and Law, the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, the School of Public Policy and Administration, the School of Canadian Studies and others. Scholars associated with the Centre are working in such areas as social citizenship, border control and immigration policy, security policy, environmental regulation, federalism and the role of civil society within North America. Award Theme: North American Studies For applications in: International Studies in any area related to Canada-U.S. or Canada-U.S.-Mexico relations, including peace and security, inter-American affairs, international trade, environmental law and affairs, international management standards, and water resources and management The Quebec Institute for Advanced International Studies (Institut Quebecois des Hautes Etudes Internationales) is a multidisciplinary graduate school and research center devoted to the study of international affairs. It brings together experts from the fields of political science, economics, law, agro-economy, management, history and geography. The Institute offers a renowned M.A. program in international studies and also publishes the quarterly “Etudes internationales” as well as “Les conflits dans le monde,” an annual report on international conflicts. CIRMMT includes Quebec researchers in science, engineering, medicine and music from three institutions: McGill University, the University of Montreal and the University of Sherbrooke. The interdisciplinary research relevant to the creation, transmission and perception of music and sound is facilitated by new infrastructure in the Schulich School of Music, consisting of state of the art laboratories and studios integrated via a high-speed digital network and housed in a newly constructed building.
