Muni Service Expansion On Saturday, August 22nd, SFMTA will be launching their most extensive service changes since the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order began. This includes the return of the Muni Metro subway, the restoration or modifications of 11 routes, and increased frequencies on 13 routes. Please Click Here for more information. Muni Metro will be resuming service in the subway beginning August 22nd. To cut down on delays and congestion in the tunnel from West Portal to Embarcadero, some routes will temporarily no longer use the tunnel, and the S Shuttle will be reinstated as a subway-only line that travels between West Portal and Embarcadero. Please see below for details. • J Church: route will be surface-only with service between Balboa Park and Church & Market. Click Here to learn more. • LK Taraval-Ingleside: routes will be surface-only and combined, servicing stops between SF Zoo and Balboa Park. Transfer will be required to/from downtown at West Portal. Click Here to learn more. o Route between SF Zoo and Sunset Boulevard will be substituted by the L Bus Construction Shuttle for approximately seven months as related to L Taraval Improvement Project. Express bus service will be available between Sunset Boulevard and West Portal with transfers available to the LK Taraval-Ingleside on 32nd Avenue. • N Judah: full route restored between Ocean Beach (La Playa) and Embarcadero. • S Shuttle: subway-only line restored with service between West Portal and Embarcadero. • TM Third-Oceanview: routes will be combined, service will be available between West Portal and Embarcadero. To align with BART’s weekend station opening schedule, Muni Metro will also not be operating in the subway until 8:00 AM on the weekends. Bus substitutions will be available between 5:00 AM and 8:00 AM on weekends. Please visit SFMTA’s Rail Recovery page for more information. The following lines will have slightly modified routes: • 28 19th Avenue: weekend service added between Daly City BART and California/7th Avenue. • 30 Stockton: route extended to Crissy Field/Mason in the Presidio between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM daily. All other times, the bus terminal will be Divisadero/Chestnut. • 38 Geary: buses will terminate at Geary Boulevard/32nd Avenue or Fort Miley VA Hospital between 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. All other times, buses will terminate at 48th Avenue/Point Lobos. • 12 Pacific Community Shuttle: route extended between Jackson/Van Ness and Sansome/Sutter. The following lines will have their respective routes restored: • 7 Haight-Noriega (full route) • 48 Quintara-24th (modified route) • 37 Corbett (modified route) • 54 Felton (full route) • 44 O’Shaughnessy (full route) • 67 Bernal Heights (full route) • 45 Union-Stockton (full route) The following lines will have more frequent service to allow for social distancing: • 8 Bayshore • 24 Divisadero • 9 San Bruno • 25 Treasure Island • 9R San Bruno Rapid • 28 19th Avenue • 12 Pacific Community Shuttle • 29 Sunset • 14 Mission • 43 Masonic • 19 Polk • 44 O’Shaughnessy • 22 Fillmore .
