We wish him well as he heads into retirement. Hardly anyone called him Orval. Cutty it was, to friend and foe alike. Though being engi neer manager for a road com mission can earn you the displeasure of many people, Cutty never seemed to let it get to him. There were plenty of battles he faced. Some of the more recent in cluded the changes in Brutus Road, the question of paving Lower Shore Drive near Har bor Springs and a siltation problem on Maple River Road that raised the anger of area trout fishers. Through it all Cutshaw tried to keep the problem in perspec· tive, get it solved, and never letting the weight of it get him down - or anger him. Orval Cutshaw On visits to this office - often after his morning mail pickup - he would often drop a news tip off at the desk of re· porters or editors. As he'd visit, and the ominous clouds of winter with their threat of snow began to appear in the fall sky, his pat response to whether his plow drivers would be ready was always the same. "We're ready, let 'er come," he'd say. Date of Newspaper He delighted in getting new reporters out with his drivers, W.A<i'.Z- I 2: -J' q, whose skills at wheeling the large snowplows often go unno Date of Death ticed. The road commission here Date of Burial is in fine financial shape, at a time when some road commis .Database (YIN) sions are seriously lacking in funds. ------~ It is a measure of his style of running the road commission ________Greenwood (YIN) that even one of the people he "tangled with" ove1· the years called to wish him a good retirement. There are few people nowadays that stick with a job for 22 years. We're glad Orval Cutshaw decided to stay with the one here that long, and glad we've known him during those years. Happy retirement, Cutty!
