It is so hard to believe how fast this year has gone by! It has been an honor to serve as your 2016‐2017 Federation President. I enjoyed having the privilege of meeting and visiting with so many of you at our Federation and District Meetings. You have given me wonderful memories that I will cherish always. We had a busy Fall and Winter! Aggie Mom Camp, which was exciting and fun in October followed by the holidays, and then the 2017 New Year came in. We had our January Federation Meeting highlighted with President Young, telling us of news of the University and things to come; Hannah Wimberly, ‘17, Student Body President, and representatives from Special Units within the Corps of Cadets. As you all know my theme this year is “Aggie Moms United With the Corps In Keeping the Aggie Spirit.” The Corps honored us with their presence at our Winter meeting in full force. Dan Rosenfield '17, Squadron 17 Platoon Leader and SGA VP Executive Vice President, was our Emcee of the program part of our meeting. He has truly won the hearts of all Aggie Moms who have ever met him or heard him speak! We had dReveille an her handler, Gavin Suel '17 at the Registration and coffee; the Color Guard presenting the Colors; the Yell Leaders getting us all motivated; Zeb Hornbuckle '17, 2016‐2017 Commander Ross Volunteer Company; Aaron Barclay '17 with the Fish Drill Team telling us what they are about and all about their uniforms and two sophomore Fish Drill Team representatives giving us a demonstration of the precision drill they perform at competitions around the country and bringing home National Championships since 1937; Andy Duffie '76, Century Tree Project; and the grand finale with Matt Little '17, Head Drum Major of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band leading us in the Aggie War Hymn at the close of the General Meeting. It was a great honor to have had all these very special people providing us with a very memorable program. Great News! In February, President‐Elect Carolyn Phelan, 1st VP Membership Peggy Nolan, and I were excited to have had the opportunity to visit the Galveston campus and meet with Shelly Fordyce, Director of Student Affairs. We met with Shelly to introduce ourselves, and to work to develop a relationship between the Galveston campus and the Federation of Aggie Moms. We have never done this in the past and we wanted to open a new door. We wanted them to know who the Federation is, what we do, and that we represent all 109 Aggie Mom clubs, in and out of state. During our visit with Shelly, we asked to be a part of the New Student Conferences held on the Galveston campus, just like we are a part of the NSC on main campus. We were received very graciously with our request and plan to be present alongside the Galveston Aggie Moms at the Galveston New Student Conferences which begin in May. We had a very good visit and a short, but wonderful, tour of the campus. The campus is so nice and as evidenced by all of the construction, is growing very rapidly! We hope to have this same opportunity in the near future with the McAllen campus. Aggie Moms are everywhere! Aggie Mom Boutique 2017, our well known and spectacular on‐campus fund raiser for Aggie Moms’ Clubs during Family Weekend is quickly approaching – April 7‐8! Aggie Mom Boutique 2017 will once again be held in the beautiful Memorial Student Center (MSC) ‐ the place where Boutique began many years ago. Boutique booths will occupy most of the second floor with raffle tables located in the corridors. You will be able to shop to your heart’s content for wonderful treasures, many handmade by Aggie Moms. Our long‐standing tradition of hosting the Singing Cadets for a mini‐concert, as well as a chance to have your photograph made with Miss Reveille is a must! A reception for theg outgoin Board members will wrap up the events for the year, so please plan to join us. I hope to see you at our Spring Federation Meeting and at Boutique. We'll be using this video to promote membership at the NSC this summer in College Station and in Galveston. But we need your HELP! On Thursday, April 6th we are planning to film a LARGE group segment. We need 100+ Aggie Moms to meet on the back side of Rudder Tower at 5:45 pm and walk down Military Walk while they film our group. Feel free to wear maroon, or your club shirts or whateveru yo wore to drive into town! It just doesn't matter. We need lots of moms. We should be finished by 6:30. If your moms are planning to help with Boutique setup, maybe the Boutique chair can lead everyone out for this short amount of time. We just really need lots of moms. Please share this with your ENTIRE MEMBERSHIP. I have also posted this on the Federation Facebook page and moms can RSVP there. Or if you have a head count of members that plan to be there shoot me an email at the above address. Or direct them individually to me. I'm really flexible! If we find that we are a bit short we can supplement with students as they will be filming
