In its 43rd year of operation, the organization continues to provide high quality services and innovative programs for at-risk youth and their families. The following list highlights a few of our accomplishments in 2010: • Huckleberry Youth Programs was honored as the 2010 Youth Agency of the Year by the National Network for Youth in Washington, D.C. • In early January, the Huckleberry Community Assessment and Referral Center (CARC) moved into a new expanded facility at 44 Gough Street. Five days later, Mayor Gavin Newsom held a press conference at CARC announcing the creation of a truancy prevention program at 44 Gough (Truancy Assessment and Referral Center -TARC), in partnership with Huckleberry CARC. • The Department of Public Health (DPH) awarded funds to create the Huckleberry Youth Multi-Service Center - San Francisco. The Huckleberry Youth Multi-Service Center targets transitional age youth and is a collaboration among Huckleberry Youth Programs, Larkin Street Youth Services, and DPH’s Community Health Programs for Youth. • In June, the second graduation of the Huckleberry Wellness Academy - San Francisco (HWA) took place with 11 new graduates off to college, joining the 14 graduates from our 2009 inaugural class. We expanded the Huckleberry Wellness Academies in both counties with two new cohorts of 17 high school juniors in San Francisco, and 25 high school freshmen in Marin. The total number of Wellness Academy participants in both counties is now 114!!! • Huckleberry Health Education workshops reached 4,738 youth in schools and community centers in SF and Marin County! • In September, Huckleberry celebrated the GRAND OPENING of the Marin Multi-Service Center at Montecito Plaza, a new 6,000 sq. ft. space that houses health education services, Teen Tuesday Clinic, a state-of-the-art classroom for our Huckleberry Wellness Academy, and expanded therapy offices. • The Huckleberry Board of Directors welcomed eight new members joining the Board in the past six months. In spite of the economy, donations from individuals, and revenue generated from special events continues to grow. In order for us to succeed in our work with youth and families, it is critical that our donor community continue to expand its support. We thank you again for all you do for Huckleberry Youth Programs, and we realize that without your help, none of this would be possible. Please feel free to call us with comments Bruce Fisher Brian G. Swift or questions, or if you would like to visit one of our programs.
