The analysis of tourism resources plays a key role in development of landscape with spatial planning of sustainable tourism of the city or country. The existed historical monuments, traditional and cultural designs, ancient architecture constructions, regional life style, natural landscape environments will be the major assets of tourism development. The protection and management of tourism resources for sustainable tourism will allow negative impacts on tourism which will be the principal objective of sustainable tourism development. The analysis of tourism resources with various tourism products will provide the comparative benefits of different tourism resources in the city. In view of this, the present study proposed an analysis of tourism resources for sustainable tourism development using Geographical Information System (GIS). For detailed analysis, the study considered Hyderabad City, which is located in Telangana State of India. In this study all the tourist resources in the city are identified and analyzed by detecting various tourism products. All the recognized tourist locations are evidently surveyed for various factors and then thematic layers are prepared for each factor using GIS. The prepared thematic layers were analyzed using overlay analysis tool in GIS environment with weightage and ranking factors. Based on the priority and significance, the resulted map http://iaeme.com/Home/journal/IJCIET 762 [email protected] Analysis of Tourism Resources for Sustainable Tourism Development of Hyderabad City, Telangana, India using Geographical Information System (GIS) was categorized into 5 classes as Excellent, very good to excellent, moderate good to very good, good to moderate good, and good. INTRODUCTION The suitable landscape architecture of tourism resources plays a major role in planning and decision making process of urban planning and sustainable tourism. Landscape investigation is based on ecological oriented planning [1], which is useful for a careful analysis of the landscape stressing with ecological potential. The perfect analysis will be the major significant objective of the tourism resources. The continuous monitoring and evaluation of tourism resources helps in better planning and management of sustainable tourism. The proper landscape planning with minimum negative impacts on the natural, social and economic environment will provide the best tourism resources [2]. Every tourism resource has specific importance with geographical, historical, natural, social and economic values, which attracts the tourism. The tourism resources more familiar with their particular significance, aesthetic beauty of the resource, easy connection to the resource and availability of basic needs in the resource. The continuous analysis of tourism resources highlights the most important products of tourism in that particular region and also provides the comparative benefits of various tourism products. For evaluation of tourism resources, many studies were performed with different regions and with several methods. The evaluation of tourism resources using overlaying maps of various tourism factors, was an old method developed in USA, which was a computer based technology with digital cartography [3]. The evaluation can also achieved by using spatial data or maps of geographical features, land use and land cover, water resources (surface and groundwater), watershed area, transportation network (road, rail and air), forest area etc. The suitable integration method of these data sets will provide the potential tourism products of the study regions. The classification of data sets with comprehensive integration analysis model of natural resources and land-uses data of tourism resources results in planning and management methods of sustainable tourism development. In the present study, the tourism resources of Hyderabad City, Telangana State, India are identified and the evaluation of various regions were performed. Based on the evaluation of tourism resources, different tourism products were identified with specifications and comparative benefits were analyzed for sustainable tourism development. 2. METHODOLOGY Hyderabad is the fourth most populous city in India and capital city of Telangana State, which is newly created 29th state of India that came to existence on the June 2, 2014 [4]. Telangana is the 12th largest state in India, which is bounded with Odisha and Chhattisgarh States in the North, Maharashtra and Karnataka States in the West and Andhra Pradesh state in South and East sides. Hyderabad city lies between 78°28ʹ29.53ʺ E longitude and 17°25ʹ18.30ʺ N latitude over an area of 260 km2. Hyderabad is a world famous silicon city and it is a city of impressive lakes, like Hussain Sagar, which is “The largest Heart Shaped Lake” in India [5]. It was built at the center of Hyderabad city in 1562 A.D mainly to store drinking water brought from the http://iaeme.com/Home/journal/IJCIET 763 [email protected] Chitla N R Santhoshini, Riken Homma and Kazuhisa Iki river Musi, a tributary of Krishna River. The city is located in Deccan Plateau around 536 meters above the sea level with unique rock formation landscape. The city falls under seismic zone-I which least exposed to earthquakes. The city covered with red sand type soil and the highest point of city is Banjara Hills. The city is placed on the banks of Musi River, which was originated from Anantagiri Hills. The Musi flows from west to east direction, and it shows the general slope of the city which is eastward. The urban expansion in Hyderabad City is a mixture of spread and road gravity expansion. The urban expansion is mainly by spread (about 79), but it is resisted by the slope. The reason for the urban expansion is due to IT industries, educational institutes and historical/tourist places [6]. Hyderabad is famous for different art and craft embedded in silks and the most beautiful ancient art is Kalamkari art. Kalamkari or Qalamkari is a type of hand-painted or block-printed cotton textile produced mainly in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state. Hyderabad is a central hub for shopping of traditional handloom cloths. Hyderabad is an easy accessible and has most frequent connection with major cities in India and with other countries. Hyderabad has Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, located in Shamshabad, which is 22km to the southwest of the city. Hyderabad is connected with frequent air and train services with other metropolis like Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkatta, Mumbai and New Delhi. Hyderabad is located in southern region of India and it is connected with frequent bus and train services to all major cities and towns. In the present study, 1445Km2 area has considered as a study area along with outer ring road of Hyderabad City. Few tourist places were outside of the ring road, with good road connection. The detailed list of places and study area map has shown in Figure 1. INDIA Hyderabad City Map Telangana State Figure 1. Location map of Hyderabad city and list of tourist palaces 3. TOURISM RESOURCES AND METHODOLOGY The Hyderabad has several historical places and monuments, which attracts many tourists from all parts of the world irrespective of seasons. For easy analysis, the tourist places categorized into Historical Monuments and Places, Religious Places, Museums and Planetariums, Parks and Lakes, and entertainment and shopping. The list of tourist locations as per the categories with their geographic locations are listed in Table 1, Table 2, Table 3, Table 4 and Table 5. http://iaeme.com/Home/journal/IJCIET 764 [email protected] Analysis of Tourism Resources for Sustainable Tourism Development of Hyderabad City, Telangana, India using Geographical Information System (GIS) Table 1 List of Historical Monuments and Places in Hyderabad City Geographical Built Sl No Name Location Importance Coordinates Year 1 Mecca Hyderabad’s old 17°21'37.98"N 400 A Symbolic Mosque built by Sultan Muhammad Masjid city 78°28'24.36"E years Qutub Shah and the
