Belrose Rugby League Football club Annual Report 2013 BELROSE RUGBY LEAGUE 2013 ANNUAL REPORT belroseeagles.com 1 Belrose Rugby League Football club Annual Report 2013 PRESIDENT’S REPORT Well what a difference a year makes after a somewhat disappointing 2012 this year has been one of positives on and off the field. The Club’s decision to explore options outside of the local A Grade competition and enter the NSWRL run Sydney Shield competition has been an outstanding success. At the time of going to press the team had secured the Minor Premiership and are now only a game away from a possi- ble Grand Final appearance. On field success aside the boys have enjoyed the wider variety of teams this competition provides although not sure that they are totally happy about playing for an extra month !! Locally, we have also enjoyed great success with 4 teams making it through to the Grand Finals being Under 8s, 12s, 15s and A-Grade. Ultimately 3 teams have enjoyed premiership glory. The Under 8’s coached by Paul Clyne, Under 15s by first year coach Luke Grant and A Grade under the reins of captain coach Scott Handley all enjoyed and celebrated wins. Congratulations to these teams and everyone who contributed to their success. Unfortunately Tim Fitzgerald’s under 12 side were defeated by a very strong Harbord outfit, these boys can hold their heads high for a great season. I believe that a season should not only be measured by the number of Grand Final victories and we have enjoyed a number of success stories off the field this year thanks to hard work by many people. Loyal and generous sponsors. Sean Wilson and Brad Martin have worked hard to be able to hopefully provide greater exposure and recognition for all our sponsors. Record numbers of players in the annual touch football competition Player registrations slightly higher than last season Repairs completed and the scoreboard is now working AV system set up in the Clubhouse Great club supporter base Sydney Shield on and off the field. In general we have had a lot of fun this year. The Dinner Dance was the highlight at a new ven- ue at the Manly Pacific where a great night was had by all. We are very fortunate to have a core group of volunteers; actually they are workers, who have again got us through the year. Every- thing from set up, canteen, raffles, registration, coaches, managers and trainers I can’t name you all but a very big thank you on behalf of the Club we simply would not survive without you. Personally I would like to thank everyone for their support this year especially my fellow Board members but particularly my family who are so understanding and supportive on the demands of my time. The days when we win plenty of premierships are about to return. After a very difficult season in 2012 things seemed to go pretty well in 2013 This year with three premierships and the Sydney Shield result to come the Club has had its best year in premierships since 2003.. What is even more important nearly all our teams are showing great improvement with better things to come. The final results for all our teams in 2013 were: Sydney Shield Minor Premiership A Grade Premiers U19 Grade Finalist U17Grade Semi Finalist U15 Grade Premiers U14 Grade 5th U13 Grade Grand Finalist U12/1/M Grand Finalist U12/2W Grade Finalist U11/1M Grade Semi Finalist U11/2 Grade 3rd div Finalist U10/1 M Grade Finalist U10/2 W Grade 3rd Div. Semi Finalist U9/2 W Grade Preliminary Finalist U8/2W Premiers U7 m Uncompetitive U7 W Uncompetitive U 6 Uncompetitive This Annual Report has all team reports from all grades and is an indication of the effort Coaches & Managers put in to ensure our players are all recognized for their efforts If we continue to get enthusiastic Coaches & Managers we will see our teams grow. I think there is no better fun on an early Saturday morning watching all the new parents and grandparents see the new under six players take the field for the first time in Red & Gold. The excitement is often more eclectic than an NRL game. This year was no exception and the num- bers grew in under 7 & U8’s with the under eights playing their first season of competitive foot- ball to take out a premiership. Coach Paul Clyne had previously won a number of premier- (Continued on page 9) 8 SECRETARY’S REPORT (Continued from page 8) ships playing in the centers for 10 years alongside one of Belrose most successful players Da- vid Ronson ( David’s Sea Eagles Premiership winning jumper is on display in the Clubhouse) I am sure Paul’s first success as a Coach is right up there with his success as a player. The numbers grew in under 9 and this age group improved remarkably. Under 10 were again good in numbers while the under11 showed steady improvement. The under 12/1 made the grand final and will surely be looking forward to moving from Mod football to inter- national under 13. This years under 13 had great numbers and look like a team that will continue to get bet- ter while U14’s had a complete restructure and have the enthusiasm to take them through. Of course the last of the Saturday Teams Under 15’s produced the results of the year by beating Manly Cove in Mayor Semi Final and the Grand final.
