I thank all the members of our UANA Executive Committee for their efficient work and for their Secretario/Tesorero • Secretary/Treasurer Fernando J. Canales, USA determined dedication to the well being of our fantastic UANA athletes [email protected] for they are the main reason why we volunteer to serve. It seems as if we just left Guadalajara yesterday, filled with ideas and energy when we Vice Presidente • Vice President Errol Clarke, BAR embarked on this magnificent UANA journey of 2011-2015. [email protected] My involvement with UANA dates back to the days of Honorary FINA and Vice Presidente • Vice President William J. Shaw, CAN UANA President Lic. Javier Ostos Mora who was a friend of my parents. [email protected] Don Orban and Don Julio I have known since I was a child, and our dear Mrs. Carol Zaleski was kind enough to teach me the course of UANA's Miembro • Member Executive Committee affairs when she took me as her understudy 13 years ago. UANA has been Luis Leiva Perez, CHI in my blood for six decades and I am honored, humbled and grateful to [email protected] have served and worked with so many brilliant persons. UANA congratulates him for his new [email protected] appointment as PASO President, which will allow him to continue his mission to exalt our aquatic disciplines to newer heights never achieved Presidente Inmediato Anterior – before. Godfrey, CAN [email protected] UANA is grateful to Dr. Maglione for providing leadership within PASO in avoiding a conflict between the Pan American Games and the FINA World International Relations Officer Dr. Margo Mountjoy, CAN Championships; for expanding the quota of athletes for Toronto 2015 and [email protected] for considering an even larger quota as we stride into Lima 2019. UANA Media Officer Gregory D. Eggert, USA The UANA Executive thanks President Coaracy Nunes Filho and Miss [email protected] Giovana Moreira for their leadership and strength during the last four years. They kept us working together while advancing all our aquatic Pasado Presidente • Past Presidents * Eldon C. Godfrey, CAN disciplines as we plunged into the adventure leading to Toronto 2015 and * Orban Mendoza, PUR the Rio 2016 Olympics. Giovana is our shining star and has earned * Carol Zaleski, USA Dr. Julio Maglione, URU everyone's admiration and respect as she has managed the intricate web * Dr. Manuel de Jesús, PUR of UANA life with grace and abundant patience. * Honorary Life President Honorary UANA President Eldon Godfrey guided us through many passages along the ODEPA, UANA. FINA and ACODEPA world; we greatly appreciate Eldon's wisdom and his kindness in leadership. We could not be more grateful for his valuable contributions and for the positive spirit he brings into the tasks at hand. Thank you for guiding us as we approached the 1st PASO Festival which brought our Continent together in Mexico for another glorious and very successful celebration of sport. A special tribute goes to Mr. Mel Goldstein for organizing two fantastic Masters events in Sarasota and Medellin. These events were well attended and provided for an efficient and friendly competition for our athletes. They created new branding opportunities for UANA as well as a new and significant source of revenue. These new sources of revenue ultimately provide much needed funds which allow us to perform our duties more efficiently. Mel's willingness to wear multiple hats and serve as UANA's financial manager, engaged him in the daily fiscal responsibilities of UANA and in turn assured the financial wellbeing of our organization. Mel your work is greatly appreciated and we hope you continue to work with UANA for many years to come. We must offer a Continental Thank You to United States Aquatic Sports Presidents Mr. Jim Wood and Mr. Steve McFarland, Confederacao Brasileira de Deportes Acuaticos President Coaracy Nunes Filho and Aquatics Canada President Mrs. Lisa Schott, for providing tremendous financial support in hosting our last four UANA Executive meetings and for sponsoring our UANA receptions in Barcelona, Doha and Toronto. We thank you for your willingness to work together for the benefit of all our UANA athletes. A special thank you goes to their respective Swimming Technical Directors, Mr. Frank Busch, Mr. Ricardo de Moura and Mr. Pierre LaFontaine, for agreeing to shrink the size of the National Teams at the Pan American Games in order to see larger participation and diversity from other UANA countries. Grand congratulations and enormous thank you goes to the Chairs of our UANA Technical Committees as well as to all the ITO's who will be working in Toronto, for their arduous and continuous work on behalf of our athletes. They have committed four years of their lives, many times sacrificing by being away from their families, for the success of aquatics in our continent. Their dedication and attention to detail distinguishes them as the finest leaders in the world for their distinctive aquatic disciplines. Thank you to all our National Federations and their volunteers for working diligently in favor of our athletes. In particular, we thank those National Federations that have hosted UANA events during the quadrennial and we encourage you to find new, innovative and exciting opportunities to host UANA Championships for many years to come. Affiliated to UANA is grateful to Mr. Greg Eggert and Dr. Margo Mountjoy for their fine work as Media and International Relations Officers. You are great ambassadors for UANA in the international arena and your quality of work is respected by all. More importantly, you provide expert advice and guidance in all matters related to our world of aquatics. You also keep us well informed on all relevant aquatic matters across the world of sports. Let us congratulate and thank our distinguished Technical Delegates as they prepare to guide us during these Pan American Games. They are: Ms. Rose Cody - Synchronized Swimming Mr. Roberto Cabral - Water Polo Mr. Denny Ryther - Open Water Swimming Mrs. Kathy Seaman - Diving Mr. Bill Hogan - Swimming A special note of thanks goes to Mrs. Kathy Parker and Mrs. Brenda Adams who serve each of us from the UANA Office in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Kathy and Brenda play an important administrative role in the call for Nominations of Officials, Congress Delegates, Members of Technical Officials and in the organization of the documents that will be available at our July 13th Congress. Kathy will be in Toronto to register each of the UANA Delegates just as she did in Guadalajara in 2011. We are quite fortunate to enjoy the enthusiasm, expertise and the patience of both Brenda and Kathy. In addition I thank Miss Laurette Longmire, USAS Secretary for her guidance in dealing with many UANA affairs. USA Swimming's Mr. Mike Unger and Mr. Larry Herr, have spent countless hours of their expertise in developing the 2015 Pan American Games On Line Meet Entry Procedure, thus providing the most accurate, user friendly, fair, All-UANA best data and entry method system for swimming ever used during the Pan American Games. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our FINA Vice President for the Americas, Mr. Dale Neuburger, has continued to lead with passion, dignity and a wealth of knowledge during the last four years. Dale has promoted the development of our officials, coaches and athletes, always finding new educational programs, clinics and financial resources for the benefit of all our UANA National Federations large or small. As the Director of the FINA Development Program Dale has expanded and spread the opportunities made available to our National Federations during the quadrennial so that they reached all the corners of our Continent. We thank you Dale for always taking the high road with your humble leadership style and for being a dedicated friend to all UANA members.
