It consists of three - main whole-scope sightseeing floors. Tourists can enjoy the dynam ic city view of different height. The Space Module is at the height of 350 meters; the highest revolving restaurant in Asia is at 267 meters; the main sightseeing floor is at 263 meters; you also can go outside at 259 meters and 90 meters. Located at the lobby of the Oriental Pearl Tower is “Shanghai’s Urban Development History Museum”. Opening time: 8:00-21:30 Transportation: Walk from Metro Line 2 Lujiazui Exit 2 05 The Shanghai Tower - The Shanghai Tower is a 632-metre, 128-story mega tall skyscrap er in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai. It is the world’s second tallest building, but it has the world’s highest observation deck within a building or structure (Level 121, 561.25 m), and the world’s fastest elevators at a top speed of 20.5 m/s (74 km/h). Opening time: 8:30-22:00 (Stop selling tickets at 21:00) Fee: 180RMB Transportation: Walk from Metro Line 2 Lujiazui Exit 6 06 Yu Garden Yu Garden is an extensive Chinese garden. It was first built in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty by Pan Yunduan as a comfort for his father, the minister Pan En, in his old age. The garden was the largest and most prestigious of its era in Shanghai. Today, Yu Garden occupies an area of 5 acres, and is divided into six general areas laid out in the Suzhou style. Opening time: 8:30-16:45 Fee: 30RMB Transportation: Metro Line 2 East Nanjing Road → Metro Line 10 Yuyuan Exit 1 07 The Bund - The Bund is a waterfront area in central Shanghai. The area cen ters on a section of Zhongshan Road within the former Shanghai International Settlement, which runs along the western bank of the Huangpu River. It faces the modern skyscrapers of Lujiazui and is famous for the exotic building clusters along it. The night view of the Bund is something you can’t miss in Shanghai. Opening time: all day Transportation: Metro Line 2 East Nanjing Road Exit 2 08 Nanjing Road Nanjing Road is the main shopping street of Shanghai, China, and is one of the world’s busiest shopping streets. East Nanjing Road has most of Shanghai’s oldest and largest department stores, as well as a variety of domestic retail outlets, and some traditional eateries with a long history. East Nanjing Road ends at People’s Park, and opposite the park begins the West Nanjing Road, and it features a number of five star hotels, upscale shopping centers, restaurants and prime office buildings. Opening time: All day Transportation: Metro Line 2 People’s Square Exit 20 09 Tianzifang - Tianzifang is a touristic arts and crafts enclave that has developed from a renovated traditional residential area in the French Conces sion area. It has become a major tourist attraction and has more than 200 diverse small businesses such as cafes, bars, restaurants, art galleries, craft stores, design houses and studios. It’s also an example of preservation of local Shikumen architecture, and it has managed to preserve its residential feel, adding to its appeal. Opening time: All day, but opening time of the shops is usually 10:00-21:00 Transportation: Metro Line 9 Dapuqiao Exit 1 10 Jing’an Temple Jing’an Temple is a Buddhist temple on the West Nanjing Road. The temple has a history of more than 780 years and was first built in the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280). Except the biggest pure jade portrait of Shakyamuni in Mainland China, you can also enjoy the - marvelous painting and calligraphy by Yangzhou’s Eight Eccentric Painters in the Exhibition Hall of Buddhist Relics. Another import ant display of this temple is the bronze bell which was made in the Ming Dynasty. Opening time: 7:30-17:00 Fee: 50RMB Transportation: Metro Line 2 Jing’an Temple Exit 2 11 The Shanghai Museum The Shanghai Museum boasts a collection of 140,000 precious - relics, featuring bronzes, ceramics, paintings and calligraphy. The abundance and quality of the collection have enjoyed a high reputa tion both at home and abroad. Opening time: 9:00—17:00 (Last entry at 16:00) Transportation: Metro Line 4 South Xizang Road → Metro Line 8 Dashijie Exit 4 12 The French Conssesion The French Concession is the area of Shanghai once designated for the French. The tree-lined avenues and their many Tudor mansions- in the area still retain an air of the “Paris of the East”. Interesting- architecture built with French and Belgian money, the local Shang - hainese bustle, combined with a growing number of trendy bou tiques and restaurants, it shows the special mixed Chinese-Europe an styles. Opening time: all day Transportation: Metro Line 9 Dapuqiao Exit 1 13 Zhujiajiao Zhujiajiao is a water town on the outskirts of Shanghai, and was- established about 1,700 years ago. Archaeological findings dating back 5,000 years have also been found. 36 stone bridges and nu merous rivers line Zhujiajiao, and many ancient buildings still line the riverbanks today. The large-scale forests, lakes, and wetlands will im merse you into the natural beauty of this place. You can find many things to do: exploring a primitive forest in Dongping National - Forest Park, observing birds at Pearl Lake, and enjoying the endless- reed marshes in the wetland parks. In addition to contact with na ture, there are also a lot of historical attractions and human land scapes exposing you to the cultural atmosphere, such as Chongming- Academy, Danyuan Garden, Shou’an Temple, and Hanshan Temple. Fee: The island is free to enter, but some wetland parks require tick ets within 100RMB Opening Time (for some parks): 8:00-17:00 Transportation: First take metro line 6 to Wuzhou Avenue Exit 2, then take bus Shenchong Line 6 to terminal station 16 Weekend Jaunt 17 Hangzhou - Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province and the local politi cal, economic and cultural center. As the southern terminus of the Grand Canal, the city is located on the lower reaches of the Qiantang River in southeast China, a superior position in the Yangtze Delta and only 112 mi (180 km) from Shanghai. The subtropical monsoon climate contributes to varied seasonal sceneries, making Hangzhou one of China’s most popular travel destinations all the year round. Transportation: Take a train from Hongqiao Railway Station to Hangzhou Railway Station. 18 Mount Mogan - Moganshan is a mountain top tourist region near Hangzhou, Zhe jiang. It is a good weekend retreat from Shanghai, as it is only a 2.5-hour drive west. You can either drive or hike to the summit along the foot paths through the bamboo. It is also very nice in the shoulder periods when the cooler weather makes for more pleasant hiking. There is a nice park with walking trails at the very top of the mountain. Opening Time: 8:30-16:30 Transportation: First take high speed trains from Shanghai from Hongqiao Railway Station to Deqing Station, then take bus from Deqing Station to Moganshan 19 Qiandao Lake - - Qiandao Lake is a young lake formed in 1959 as a result of the con- struction of New Anjiang Hydroelectric Power Station. It is a beauti ful lake with 1078 islets showing different views in different sea sons. It is a rich lake abounding with fish and surrounded by trees, tea, mulberry (the food of the silkworm) and other fruit trees. - Opening Time: All day, but pay attention to the timetable of cruise Transportation: First take high speed trains from Shanghai Hongq iao Railway Station to Hangzhou East Railway Station and then take regular buses to reach there. 20 Wuzhen Water Town - Wuzhen water town boasts more than six thousand years of histo ry, and has always been a fertile land with abundant rice, fish and silk.
