2019 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Thursday, May 16, 2019 - 6:35 p.m. Prince George's Stadium -- Bowie, MD Erie SeaWolves (19-16) at Bowie Baysox (12-26) RHP Matt Manning (3-2, 2.40 ERA) vs. LHP Bruce Zimmermann (1-1, 2.53 ERA) Game #3 9 // Home Game #17 2019 SEASON In Case You Missed It: The Baysox dropped the final game of the series in Akron by a score of 5-2 in 11 innings. Overall Record 12-26 Alex Wells started and pitched 7.0 scoreless innings. The game was scoreless until the tenth inning, when T.J. Home Record 5-11 Nichting hit a two-run home run, his first AA blast to give Bowie the lead. Akron rallied to score twice in the tenth Road Record 7-15 to tie the game, and then won it on a three-run home run in the 11th. Versus Eastern Division 0-0 Versus Western Division 12-26 Baysox Starter: LHP Bruce Zimmermann is on the mound making his seventh start of the year for the Baysox. Current Streak L1 Zimmermann is coming off his best outing of the season, tying a career-high with 11 strikeouts in 5.2 scoreless Last Homestand 2-0 innings against Richmond. This is the fourth time this year that Zimmermann has started against Erie. In three prior Last Road Trip 1-2 outings against the SeaWolves, Zimmermann has pitched 15.1 innings and allowed seven earned runs. On April 23, the left-hander pitched six scoreless innings in Erie. Zimmermann has gone at least 5.0 innings in five of his six Last 5 Games 3-2 starts this year, and has allowed two earned runs or less in those same five starts. The 21-year-old has started When Scoring 3- Runs 3-19 against Bowie three times, and allowed just three runs in 17.2 innings while striking out 26 batters. Manning, the After Day Off 2-6 Tigers' #2 prospect and #48 prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, leads the Eastern League in strikeouts with In Shutouts 3-7 55. He also ranks in the top ten in ERA, innings pitched, batting average against and WHIP. In 1-Run Games 2-6 In 2-Run Games 2-5 For the Er-Win: LHP Tyler Erwin has been a very dependable arm during high leverage innings out of the Baysox vs. Left-Handed Starters 6-7 bullpen this year. Erwin leads the team in wins with two, and has the only three saves recorded by Bowie. In 17.0 vs. Right-Handed Starters 6-18 innings, Erwin has a 1.59 ERA, and has not allowed a run in 12 of his 15 appearances. Erwin currently owns an 10.0 Day Games 5-10 streak without allowing an earned run. Night Games 7-16 Starting Strong: The Baysox recieved outstanding starting pitching in the final two games of the series in Akron. Ahead After 7 Innings 9-0 Alex Wells and Zac Lowther combined to pitch 14.2 scoreless innings against the RubberDucks. Lowther tossed a Behind After 7 Innings 1-19 career-high 7.2 scoreless innings on Tuesday, while Wells went 7.0 scoreless in the series finale. Tied After 7 Innings 2-6 Ahead After 8 Innings 10-0 In the "Nich" of TIme: OF T.J. Nichting hit his first AA home run in the 10th inning yesterday in Akron. The blast Behind After 8 Innings 1-17 gave the Baysox a 2-0 lead. It was just the second go-ahead home run for a Bowie player in the eighth inning or Tied After 8 Innings 1-5 later this year. Pitchers Hunter Harvey Outhit by Opponent 2-20 (#12), Dillon Tate (#18), Zach Pop (#20) and Infielder Rylan Bannon (#23) round out the top prospects that start Equal Hits 1-1 the 2019 campaign with the Baysox. Hit a Home Run 10-9 No Home Runs 2-17 The Buck Starts Here: 2019 marks Buck Britton's first season as manager of the Bowie Baysox. Britton replaces Gary No Errors Committed 7-7 Kendall, who was the head man in Bowie from 2011-2018. Britton picked up his first victory as a AA manager on April 7 against the Harrisburg Senators. Last season, Britton managed the Delmarva Shorebirds, leading the club Baysox vs. Erie to a 68-66 record. Prior to getting into coaching, Britton played nine seasons in Minor League Baseball, and spent parts of 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 with the Baysox.
