V- RATIONALE is the responsibility of every school inr. school system and of every department within that school to develop a program that contributesto the attain- ment of the ,or goals of that school system. The goals of the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District are to helpevery boy and girl achieve intellectual development, moral any ethical and spiritualvalues, economic under- standing and vocational competence, citizenship andcivic responsibility, social development and human relations, and self-realization andphysical and mental health. It is with due awareness of these goals that themembers of the English 'departments of Robr)rt E. Lee and Ross S. Sterlinghigh schools have developed a nongraded phase-elective program for grades tenthrough twelve. Since English by its very nature is the subject nearest one's personality,culture and needs, it is mandatory that this program above all others becommitted to meeting the individ- ual differences of every student. The program permits a student to work at the level of maturity for which he is best fitted; itprovides logical progression from one level to another; and it provides richchallenges for the student who seeks a high degree of academic achievement, Language.
