As always, we’ve got racing opportunities for everyone, whether you sail a multihull, classic woody or one design boat, sail on the ocean or under PHRF in the Bay. For 2014, the YRA Racing Season offers four different racing options: • Party Circuit: includes our three marquee weekend regattas as well as the Westpoint Regatta. • YRA Series: a four-day series with one race day each month starting in May and running through September. • OYRA: nine fully crewed ocean races this year, and a division for shorthanded crews. • Wooden Boat Series: a full schedule of in-the-Bay racing for Bears, Birds, IODs, Folk- boats and Knarrs. You can find information on the different racing series in this publication and on the YRA website at www.yra.org. The Racer Socials that we started in 2013 will continue. We’re planning on at least three this year with potential topics ranging from a USCG view of the Bay (and racers) to Bay Currents to Rigging. If you have a topic you think we should cover, please let us know. We encourage everyone to get a YRA membership and sign up to race. Your membership support and participation in the YRA goes to help us do everything we do. And we do a lot: • Administer the local PHRF database; more M O than 700 certificates were issued in 2013. • Coordinate with the U.S. Coast Guard to pro- cess event permits – more than 900 permits in TS.SMUGMUG.C 2013. O SH • Maintain racing buoys in the Bay. ROX • Host the US Sailing Area G Appeals Committee. • Advocate for sailing and racing in the Bay Area. • Offer great racing. As always, we want to thank the YRA Mem- ber Yacht Clubs and their Race Committees ROXANNE FAIRBAIRN / WWW. ROXANNE FAIRBAIRN that are sponsoring this year’s YRA Races. We couldn’t do it without you and your support. We know each YRA skipper and crew thanks you as well. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to keep up with all the latest YRA news. You can find us on Twitter at YRAofSFBay and on Facebook at the YRA of SF Bay page. Get those entries in, get your boats and crews prepped, and get out to the start line for every race you’re scheduled to sail.
