JJy Points for an informal toast on the occassion of the Hungarian Foreign cx7 V'/~ Minister's Dinner. -A 1. It is indeed a pleasant occassion to be dining with friends whose country during most of my lifetime, I have seen as a neighbour . In fact, I like to think that tonight we are dining together as friends and as neighbours and in that sense I rejoice at the prosperity or, if you allow , .. me to use a Hungarian word more appropriate and nuance, JOI.ET, (pronounced YOLAIT), that your country is presently experiencing . 2 . I recall with pleasure my stay in the summer of 1973 in Budapest when I had the occassion to be entertained by President Losonczy and Mr. Fock, the predecessor of PrineMinister Lazar. 3. Hungary is playing a quiet but consistently constructive role at the United Nat ions. I should like to single out especially the membership of Hungary in the CCDand in the numerous Ad Hoc and experts groups on disarmament of which Hungary is an active member. I personally remember the contribution made by Hungarian scientists, among them Bruno Straub, who helped so much in establishing the guidelines for IAEA safeguards . 4. We have other memories too of Hungary ' s long standing participation in the United Nations and its predecessor, the League of Nations . I am thinking of the charming reception room at the Palais des Nations decorated by Hungarian artists and folk art. May I raise my glass to the people of Hungary and yourself: EGESEGERE.
