Publication date 04.11.2004 The 7th Polish-German Intergovernmental Consultations 04.11.2004 - The 7th Polish-German intergovernmental consultations have been held today in Cracow. Marek Belka, Prime Minister of Poland, and Gerhard Schroeder, Federal Chancellor of Germany, participated therein. At the same time the talks between ministers were held, with Ryszard Kalisz, Head of the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration, and Otto Schily, Minister of Interior of the German Federal Republic, participating therein. Paweł Dakowski, Under-secretary of State in the Ministry of Interior and Administration, also joined the meeting. During the consultations the German side officially supported the idea of Poland hosting the EU External Border Management Agency for Operational Cooperation. The next issue under discussion was the procedure for majority voting at the EU Council forum for Judiciary and Interior on the issues of asylum-granting policy and migration. Minister Ryszard Kalisz expressed his understanding for the German point of view on the subject, with the assumption to postpone the introduction of majority voting procedure included therein. Minister Otto Schily stressed that the cooperation between Polish and German services responsible for public security and order has been successfully developing for many years, and is a good sign for the future. During plenary talks held with the participation of heads of governments, Eugeniusz Szczerbak, Deputy Chief of Police, held a meeting with Mr. Max Peter Ratzel, running for the post of the Director of Europol and supported by the German Federal Republic.
