ANNUAL REPORT 2017-18 NSWCUSA 1 Message from the Executive Officer Members & Affiliated Associations, It gives the NSWCUSA management team great pleasure to present for your consideration and adoption the Annual Report of your Association that covers its activities during the financial year from 1 May 2017 to 30 April 2018. Complementing the Annual Report are the Honorary Treasurer’s Statement of Financial Performance for the year ended 30 April 2018 and the Statement of Financial Position as at that date. The Annual Report is placed online, but is available to be sent as a book to members on request. In working on this Annual Report we reflect on the exceptional commitment members of this Association make to cricket. You serve the game in an exemplary fashion from grass roots level in New South Wales to the international arena. The Association is making progress through the positive collaboration, contribution, dedication and performance of our members. Thank you one and all. “A team is not a group of people who work together. A team is a group of people who trust each other.” – Simon Sinek. Troy Penman (Administration Manager) and Nic Bills (Administration Officer) are commended for their outstanding work in organising and compiling this report. They are excellent administrators, and people, who work tirelessly for the benefit of New South Wales Cricket Umpires’ and Scorers’ Association. It was a impressive year for your Association, details of which are highlighted in the pages that follow. There have been substantial opportunities for umpires and scorers to develop, improve and gain experience. Many of our colleagues have achieved excellence in the representative pathways, some at international level. This has come about through diligence, commitment and ability. 2 NSWCUSA ANNUAL REPORT 2017-18 “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” – Colin Powell. We trust you find the historical records of your Association’s 105th year of interest. We look forward to serving cricket with positive energy throughout New South Wales in season 2018-19 as we attempt to recruit match officials and raise officiating standards across the State. We aim to consolidate the implementation of the 2017 Code of the Laws of Cricket, and provide more professional development experiences for members. Our training and examination teams did a fantastic job in 2017-18 and are preparing for the ongoing challenge. The highest of all human abilities is the ability each one of us has to choose how we respond to the circumstances we find ourselves within. When each one of us chooses peak performance and personal leadership the organisation itself gets to world-class speedily. Our aim is to be a world- class Umpires’ and Scorers’ Association and a leader in our field. “One of the greatest freedoms each of us has as people is the freedom to choose how we view our roles in the world and the power we all have to make positive decisions in whatever conditions we happen to find ourselves.” – Robin Sharma.
