Salt Lake City Rotary Club and UPB Tree Planting In an event sponsored by the Parks & Environment Committee, the Salt Lake City Rotary Club and Utah Paper Box partnered with Tree Utah to plant some large trees at Big Cottonwood Regional Park on Saturday, May 16. Spread the Word and Save a Tree! by Teri Jensen During our tree planting, the arborist asked us to spread the word about bird houses. Although the people hanging the houses are well intentioned, the houses popping up in our SLC parks are killing the trees. He said there are proper ways to build and hang a bird house so it does not kill the tree. Those instructions can be found on the County and State Parks websites. The style in this photo is not it. It is nailed directly to the tree through all of the bark layers and the hole is too big to actually attract birds. He said birds are better off to build their own nests in the park trees. 2 Welcome Awesome New Member Robyn Payne Director of Institutional Advancement, Rowland Hall I am honored to be joining the Salt Lake Rotary Club.
