EVENT DIRECTORY Considered as the country’s premiere design and lifestyle event, Manila FAME is a bi-annual showcase of craftsmanship, design innovation, and artisanship in Philippine products. It features finely selected furniture and home furnishings, holiday gifts and décor, and fashion accessories designed and crafted in the Philippines for the global market. Manila FAME is the second longest-running trade show in the Asia-Pacific, and is the only trade event in the country that is approved by the Union des Foires Internationales (UFI), the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. Organized by the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), Manila FAME, which is held twice a year in March and October, is one of the longest running trade shows in the Asia Pacific, featuring the latest Philippine-made creations from artisans and manufacturers. It is the only trade event in the country approved by the Union des Foires Internationales (UFI), the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. Selling is allowed on March 15-16. 9 Creative Team The creative team is composed of interior design and fashion luminaries Budji Layug, Josie Natori, and Kenneth Cobonpue. Each has his and her own individual style, special in their uniqueness. Together, they create a striking presentation full of life and soul and from it, draw innovation and a refreshing, unparalleled design innovation. 10 Manila FAME March 2015 Manila FAME opens in 2015 with new vigor and optimism as it continues to inspire with a strong statement on what is design-forward, popular, artisanal, and soulful. Each show edition embodies the true spirit of Filipino craftsmanship. The March 2015 edition will usher in a fresh approach with the 21st-century consumer in mind, with an impressive show of handcrafted products for the home, including holiday decor and fashion wearables — all designed in the Philippines for the global market. It is undisputedly The Design and Lifestyle Event of Asia. 11 Event Highlights SCENOGRAPHY The Design Philippines Scenography puts together the latest collections from exhibitors and synthesizes them in one bold curatorial presentation to capture the latest trend in the lifestyle retail concept. Design Philippines Scenography’s grand ambition is to trigger desires and ideas for the next season’s merchandise collection. It is curated by Manila FAME Creative Director, Budji Layug. 12 LIGHT & SHADOW Visitors to the Manila FAME are given a glimpse into the creative philosophies and sensibilities of the country’s design talents as they give their own interpretation of “Light and Shadow.” In celebration of the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies, Jinggoy Buensuceso, Stanley Ruiz, and Wataru Sakuma meticulously LIGHT & SHADOW worked with select manufacturers to develop their personal and poetic play of lighting products with environmental/space design. 13 RED BOX Fresh. Modern. Current. The story continues with the incubation and development of Red Box designers – Rachelle Dagñalan, Gabby Lichauco, Lilianna Manahan, and Joseph Rastrullo. Each Red Box designer has been given the design challenge scenario of using the show window concept to create a suspended reality installation of their own choosing to highlight product concepts developed with partner manufacturers. Red Box is a design development program of CITEM which aims to nurture the next generation of Philippine designers. In every edition of Manila FAME, Red Box continues its work with emerging talents by matching them with local manufacturers to create fresh design concepts that reflect their unique design sensibility. Red Box designers are nurtured and guided under the expertise of the Manila FAME Creative Team. 14 Manila Wear Chic. Stylish. Relevant. Now on its fourth year, this selective group of fashion-forward designers and brands collectively defines the spirit of the Manila Wear lifestyle. Adante Collections, Amarie, AVEL, Beatriz, Filip+Inna, Joel Escober, Joanique, Ken Samudio, Maco Custodio, and Michelline Syjuco are the featured brands that have found a loyal following in the global sourcing community. Fresh, artisanal, and consistently evolving, Manila Wear is a confident statement to the growing globalization of the Philippine fashion design sector. 15 PHILIPPINESPHILIPPINES ONE TOWN, ONE PROODUCT OTOP Marketplace Home. Means. Life. The One Town, One Product (OTOP) group participation features carefully selected small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from the various regions of the Philippines that make use of the country’s indigenous raw materials and local skills and talents.
