Here, at Lewis Street, on the 31st ult., Mr Stair Adair, Stair's Arms Inn, aged 75 years. At Mark, parish of Inch, on the 2d instant, Mr John M'Cosh, overseer there - son of Mr Peter M'Cosh, Cairngaan, Kirkmaiden. At London, on the 7th ult., Alexander, aged 22 years, son of Mr Peter Murray, farmer, Drumoddie, Mochrum - sincerely regretted . On the 26th November last, aged 61, Mr Francis Wood, of the Mill Creek, near Galt, late farmer at Jardineton, Stewartry of Kirkcudbright, Scotland. At Wigtown, on the 28th ult., Joan M'Douall, wife of Mr John Dally, shoemaker. Killed at the Battle of Balaclava, on the 25th October last, John Wilson, private in the 17th Lancers, aged 32 son of Mr James Wilson, formerly of the Commercial Inn, Gatehouse-of-Fleet. At Wigan, on the 26th ult., James, youngest son of the late Mr John M'Lure, grocer, aged 21 years. 11th January 1855 (Week 2) BIRTHS At Auchneel, on the 9th instant, the wife of Mr A.H. M'Clean, of a son. At Merrin View House, Dublin, on the 28th ult., Mrs Robert M'Meikan, of a daughter. At Newton Stewart, on the 4th instant, the wife of Mr Andrew Forsyth, of a daughter. At the Home Farm of Dunskey, on the 6th inst., after a lingering illness, Mr John Stewart, aged 54 years, much regretted. At Portpatrick, on the 7th instant, Mrs M'Millan, aged 72 years. At Port Logan, on the 9th instant, after a protracted illness, borne with Christian resignation, Margaret, aged 22 years, eldest daughter of Mr Davidson, of the Coast Guard. At Glenluce, on the 4th inst., after a protracted illness, borne with meekness and resignation, Jane M'Keachie, wife of the late Mr M'Chleary, of Boreland, advanced in years. At Gorbals, Newton Stewart, on the 7th instant, Mrs M'Haffie, relict of Mr John M'Haffie, aged 84 years. At Ardachie, Kirkcowan, Jane, daughter of Mr Gordon, farmer, aged 22 years. At Barrhill, rather suddenly, on the 6th inst., Mr John Service, cooper. He had been complaining for some time, but on the evening he died he was walking through the house, dropped down, and expired in a few hours afterwards. At Walsall, on the 7th instant, Robert Douglas, Esq., coal merchant and cement manufacturer, eldest son of Mr Robert Douglas, late of Chapel Croft, near Castle Douglas, aged 35 years, much regretted. At 53 Barton Crescent, London, on the 28th ult., Mrs Isabella Martin, relict of the Rev. At Calgow, parish of Minnigaff, on the 10th inst., Mr James Matthews, jun. aged 37 years. At 1 Oxford Terrace, Dean, on the 9th current, Sophia Black, widow of the late Wm. Douglas, Esq., writer, Stranraer. At Newton Stewart, on the 10th instant, Margaret Tait, wife of Mr Michael Gibson, aged 67 years. At Newton Stewart, on the 14th inst., Mrs Brown, aged 76 years. At Boreland of Girthon, near Gatehouse of Fleet, on the 10th instant, Mr John Porter, farmer there, aged 78 years. At the Commercial Hotel, Kirkcudbright, on the 9th inst., Mr Walter, Dickson. At Girvan, on the 2d instant, of cholera (in nine hours' illness), Hugh M'Clymont, Esq., manufacturing agent. At Clark Street, Kilmarnock, on the 10th instant, Jeanie Dewar, wife of Mr Andrew M'Cracken, clothier aged 37 years. At Kirkcowan, on the 3d instant, Mr William Scott aged 94. Deceased was the oldest individual in the parish inaugurating the new system of registration. Sand Hills, Agusta, [sic] Georgia, United States of America, on 17th November last of yellow fever, James D. Mackie, Esq., M.D., aged 35 years, eldest son of William Mackie, Esq., late of Wigtown, Scotland. He was a young man of high attainments, and his death is much regretted. 25th January 1855 (Week 4) BIRTHS At Auchincloy, parish of Stoneykirk, last week, Mrs Hugh Hannah of a daughter. At Cairngarroch, parish of Stoneykirk, on the 20th inst., Mrs Jelly, of a daughter. At the Manse of Dunblane, on the 6th inst., Mrs Boe, of a daughter. MARRIAGES At 9 Alloway Place, Ayr, on the 18th instant, by the Rev. A. P. Goudy, D.D. Strabane, Joseph White, Esq., merchant, Glasgow to Helen, eldest daughter of John Kinross, Esq., Ayr. At Kayshill, parish of Stair, on the 19th inst. by the Rev. William Rorrison, Mr Samuel Hutchon, ploughman to Mr Alexander Ritchie, Trabochmains, to Mary, eldest daughter of Mr William Frew, farmer there. DEATHS Here at Hillhead, on the 22d inst. Mr Andrew Campbell, shoemaker, aged 66 years. Here, at Princes Street, on the 23d instant, Susan youngest daughter of Mr John Shaw, innkeeper, aged 17 years. At North - west Castle Lodge., Stranraer, on the 21st inst. Mary M'Lelland aged 82 years. At Altain, parish of Stoneykirk, on the 18th inst. Mr James Corkcran advanced in years. At Wigtown, on the 17th inst. Mr John Carnochan, shoemaker, aged 73 years. At Cumloden Lodge, on the 24th inst. Mary M'Call relict of the late Mr Alexander Jameson, miller, aged 64 years. Friends in Kirkmaiden will please accept of this intimation. At Baryerrock, Kirkinner, on the 18th inst., Miss Susan Andrew, of Newton-Stewart, aged 24 years. Deceased was on a visit when so suddenly cut off. She was much respected and died deeply regretted. At Newton Stewart on the 14th curt., Janet Gilmour, relict of the late Mr William Brown, grocer, aged 76 years. At Whithorn, on the 18th inst. Margaret McCulloch, second daughter of Mr William Main, schoolmaster, Leswalt, aged 23 years. Lost, on the coast of Ireland on the 27th December last, Mr Hawthorn Stewart, eldest son of the late Captain Stewart. He was a sober, industrious and young man and is deeply lamented by his family and acquaintances. 1st February 1855 (Week 5) BIRTHS Here, at Castle Street, on the 23rd ultimo, the wife of Mr Shaw, baker, of a son. Here, at McCulloch’s Place, on the 25th ultimo, Mrs James Wilson. At No 10 Fraser’s Lane, Gloucester Street, Sydney, on the 16th October last, the wife of Mr William Murray, compositor, of a son. At Corwar, Sorbie Parish on the 24th ult., Mrs Wylie, of a son.
