Supply Lists (Alphabetically by Instructor) Following is a Basic Tool Kit recommended by most instructors. Please see individual course and instructor listings for additional specific supply requirements and expected materials fees. BASIC TOOL KIT FOR MOST CLASSES Quality layout paper 11” x 14” to14” x 17” or A3 (Recommended: Canson Pro-Marker Layout, Bienfang semi-transparent marker, Boris Riley marker); cork-backed steel ruler (12”–18”); X-acto knife (with #10 and #11 blades) or snap-off knife; cutting mat; white vinyl eraser; scissors; favorite writing nibs (Mitchell, Brause, Speedball); pen holders; assorted gouache/watercolors; black ink (recommended: Higgins Eternal, bottled sumi ink e.g., Moon Palace, stick ink and grinding stone); mixing palettes (plastic, six well); inexpensive mixing/loading brushes; water containers; paper towels or rags; slant board for writing (at least 18”x24”); pencils and sharpeners; notebook; drafting tape; glue stick (UHU); T-square (18”– 24”) and triangle or rolling ruler for ruling lines; quotes or texts that are meaningful to you. Cost for the kit will be nominal and contingent on the number of students in the class.
