Klinger, PGA Chief Operating Officer/ General Manager MEMBERSHIP NEWS Dear BHCC Members, We are excited to welcome several new members into the Club this Springtime! April was a great month for membership – we added nearly 20 new members to our Barton Hills family across all membership categories. We continue to have promising conversations and have scheduled many tours of the facility. All in all, we have had more interest in BHCC then we have had in many years. As many of you are aware, we had a wonderful Fall promotion which called Makiah Huebner perspective members to action and encouraged individuals thinking DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP about joining to do so before our initiation fees increased. We have several ideas for how to keep this momentum going and look forward to introducing new promotions and recruitment strategies in the future. We believe the beautiful renovations of the clubhouse and pool complex are responsible for the increase in membership traffic. Although recruiting new members is a vital part of sustaining our Club, keeping our existing Members and their families happy and engaged is always our priority. We have several events in the month of May that we encourage you to attend! The pool dining pavilion will be open following the Cinco De Mayo Party on May 5th and the Pool Opening Ryan Hovermale Party is scheduled for May 28th - we hope to see you there! DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS Don’t forget to download the BHCC mobile app and follow us on social media as we are always looking to post fun content as well as reminders and event updates. Scheduling a tee time, or making a dining reservation on the app is simple and convenient. If you have questions about how to download the app or how to use any of the functions, please let us know and we would be happy to walk you through these actions! We also want to take moment to remember those that have past recently. Our condolences are with the family and friends of Ralph Boehnke and Ronald Cresswell, both long time members of the club. As always, we are here to help. Please let us know how to make your BHCC experience the very best it can be! We look forward to seeing you at the Club, on the course, or at some of our fantastic Spring events very soon. GREENS Course Report Dear BHCC Members, Spring is always an exciting time of the year on the golf course. The grass begins to grow, the trees start budding, but it seems one day the grass is brown and the next day it’s green. Just like temperatures, grass growth var- ies throughout the springtime. One day it’s 70 degrees and beautiful, and the grass is growing like crazy; and the next day there is snow, and it shuts right down. Andrew Christesen GOLF SUPERINTENDENT The greens department has been hard at work preparing for the 2021 golf season. We are working on the bunkers by edging, trimming, and cleaning them up after the winter. Cultural practices which include aerifying, topdressing, seeding, and verti-cutting are taking place. Getting these cultural practices done in the spring time will set the golf course up for success in the summer months.
