Vol. 57 No. 2 Published by the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association June 2019 Orono’s Barry Wohler is elected as MSHSCA Vice President *********************** Barry Wohler has been elected as the new Vice President for the 2019-2020 MSHSCA. Barry begins his four year term of office starting in June. MEMBERSHIP During the third year of his term he will be the President of the MSHSCA. Congratulations, Barry. REGISTRATION YEAR Barry grew up in a small town Bird Island, MN, where he played football, IS OPEN!! basketball, baseball and track. Barry was the head Football Coach for 9 years in Belle Plaine where we won 6 conference titles, with one state appearance. *********************** He was the assistant basketball coach there for 9 years as well. Following Belle Plaine Barry was the head Football and Basketball coach at Marshall high school for 2 years, and continued as head basketball for 3 more years where his team made it to 3 section title games, with one state appearance. Following Marshall, he was the head Men’s Basketball coach Featured In This Issue at Hamline University where in his second year they made the Registration for 2019-2020 School Year .........9 MIAC playoffs for the first time in 12 years and won their first playoff game in 21 years. Tennis Assistant Coach of the Year ............11 Barry realized his heart was still coaching at the high school Scholarship Winners ....................20-21 level and has been at Orono High School the past 12 years as the head Boy’s Basketball coach, where they have made 4 state Winter & Spring Sports Academics ........32-37 tournament appearances, winning the AAA state title in 2011 MBCA Coach of the Year ...................39 and finishing 4th in 2014. Barry is also an assistant football and baseball coach at Orono as well. He has also been a section rep for boys basketball.
