LERWICK Shetland Livestock Marketing Group in conjunction with Aberdeen & Northern Marts had forward and sold 3932 Breeding sheep comprising 1399 Gimmers and 2533 Ewe Lambs of all classes at their annual breeding sale on Friday 27th September 2019. As usual well-bred sheep commanded premium prices. Shetland Cheviot crosses still seem to be the preferred breeding sheep and that was evident when the ewe lambs were sold as a large quantity of this section was retained on the Isles for replacements. Shetland gimmers and ewe lambs were also sought after and met a very keen demand in line with that witnessed at the sale of ewes the previous day.
