The Children Of Caine This is the Sanguine Tree of the lineage of Caine. As much of the Ancients tales are considered but myth and legend, one must look beyond the simple words provide through the World Of Darkness. This is the most complete as I know it genealogy of the Kindred, I have ever seen. It is also being continuously updated as new Kindred enter the Jyhad. All of it is either official or the product of an educated guess. I do not include those people put forward by the likes of The Camarilla Fan Associations only those put forward by the likes of White Wolf itself including the very confusing personalities presented in Vampire The Eternal Struggle and the Expansion Sets. Due to the nature of the ancients the lineage become very convoluted during the times of Caine and his immediate childer and grand childer. I will try not to put forward my opinion but on occasion I may. When something is but a guess, educated or not you will see an asterix next to it. Additionally you may see a question mark in parenthesis that means that it is flawed or questionable in some fashion. Most likely due to a misprinting or some other conflict found in the text or content therein. But as I have said these are educated guess'. I will also include the confusion of names. Those in bold print are the names most affiliated with the correct answer. Further included are those whom I do not know. Which is also integral to the nature of White Wolf and any and all additional information that I deem of interest as you will see... now let us enter the casting of the Damned... Your Storyteller may or should have his own view of the World of Darkness. Syntax: WoD = World Of Darkness, VtES = Vampire the Eternal Struggle, RAGE = Rage the CCG, WW = White Wolf, WWtA = Werewolf the Apocalypse, WtWW = Werewolf the Wild West, VtDA = Vampire the Dark Ages, VtM = Vampire the Masquerade, MtA = Mage the Ascension, WtO = Wraith the Oblivion, CtD = Changeling the Dreaming. Books one should reference beyond the White Wolf texts; The Bible, The Torah, The Koran, The Tale of Gilgamesh, Herodotus the Histories, The works of both Virgil and Homer, any Archeological-Anthropological-Historical- Theological-Mythological texts referring to the ancient; Egyptian, Babylonian, Sumerian, Atlantean, Roman, Greek, Nubian, Mycenean etc. Cultures... I do not credit the main White Wolf books in here as it is naturally assumed they were the first place I looked, so assume much of the information can be found within the varied pages of; Vampire the Masquerade 1st & 2nd Edition, Vampire Players Guide, The Storytellers Handbook, Mage the Ascension 1st & 2nd Edition, The Book of Mirrors: Mage Storytellers Handbook, The Book of Shadows: Mage Players Guide, Hidden Lore, Werewolf the Apocalypse 1st & 2nd Edition, Werewolf Storytellers Handbook, Werewolf Players Guide 1st & 2nd Edition, Werewolf The Wild West, Wraith the Oblivion 1st & 2nd Edition, Vampire the Dark Ages etc. As a experienced Storyteller I suggest if you have the financial capacity to acquire each edition of the respective books, do so. As the background materials supplied within the various publications changes from edition to edition but is still part of the World Of Darkness and thus rich with content. A prime example of this is Mummy 1st & 2nd Edition... Furthermore if the abbreviation is prefaced by the letter (N-...) the resource is a Novel unless otherwise stated. And at the end of this document is the Reference Key... I may move it up toward the beginning of this document. If any of you find cause to disagree with my interpretation feel free to contact me I could use other eyes to see my errors... I am not infallible. [email protected] Format: Most recent generation, Death or ?/Name(s)/Embraced generation, ? or best guess/Clan, best guess, ?/sire, best guess, ?/Birth-Embrace-Death B.C. or A.D./Title if any/Affiliation/Notes/Resource It should be noted when dealing with specific clans, sects or Bloodlines it is hard to define the generation or origins as they are know diablerists or worse.... for example clan Assamite, Lasombra, Tremere and Giovanni all find their origins and history mired in Diablerie... therefore the asterisk represents our best unconfirmed guess... it should also be obvious that the Ancients known as Antediluvians or worse are formatted in a different manner. About Caine and his progeny: "...Caine is said to have three progeny, two male and a female, and these three progeny created the Antediluvians (the 3rd generation)..." — See The Book of Nod for a complete but not necessary true story. "...The Truth is but a matter of interpretation..." — The Book of Truth, Scribe of the En-Kha-N'we (In Caine's Name) now known as the Inconnu a soon to be produced work. About Antediluvians: "There are 13 clans, 13 Antediluvians... Lucian and Mekhet are widely known Antediluvians..." — VtM p52 "...All you know is a lie. Only a fool looks for truth..." — The Book of Truth, Scribe of the En-Kha- N'we (In Caine's Name) now known as the Inconnu a soon to be produced work. THE FIRST GENERATION Caine Cain/Kanu/Kane/Kaen/Caen/Khayyin/H'kneuw/Kanw etc. Current Generation: 1st Embraced Generation: N/A Date of Birth: Unknown Date of Embrace: Unknown Current Status: Unknown Progeny of: Adam and Eve (Hee-hee-hee) Sex: Male Sect: N/A Title: Grand Sire Caine, All Father Caine, Wanderer, Damned etc. Location: Unknown History: Biblically the son of Adam and Eve, slayer of Able brother to Seth. According to the book of Nod he slew his brother in sacrifice to YAVH-Yahweh-Jehovah-Allah-God-etc., and in this sacrifice damned himself and reality. In WoD terms this absolute sacrifice causes The Shattering; whence reality was split and the planes (Umbra) were separated. When one considers the ancients such as Caine one must think in Mage terms as according to most of the writings everyone and yes I mean everyone was Awakened (aka. a Mage) to a degree. So when a will worker wills something to cease existing it does. As no restrictions such as Paradox existed it does so it is as if it had never existed. Such was the case with Able. Additional tales surround the likes of Caine. The genuine Cainite religion believes Caine lays sleeping deep in the earth for the coming times. And they all claim to be descended from him (yes this is true and there is a Cainite religion, it has nothing to do with vampires). In WoD terms this is not unlikely as Caine himself never died the True Death he could very much be a Living Vampire. His powers were supposedly awakened unto him by Lillith first wife of Adam. Who depending on how you look at it could be all things as well. In any event the concept of Caine and Lillith is as Demi gods. However in my mind the idea of eternal damnation Caine is supposed to suffer excludes the concept that Caine could sleep the Long Sleep of the Kindred with any kind of peace. Therefore he in all likelihood walks among us to this very day. The Children of Caine... though blasphemous as it may sound Caine is said to hold regency of two lines that of Kindred and that of Kine. It is also rumored that Caine had a twin sister known as Calomena. There is also the theory set forth known as the Conspiracy of Caine which states Caine was not the evil of the two brother but the good and Able was slain as a heroic act. And the Undeath is but a symptom of the blessing of God upon Caine. When reading the theological or game texts in WoD terms keep in mind much is pseudo metaphorical in nature so his children may be both or neither, his child or childe. As is the case with many whom are sighted as of the Children of Seth only to be embraced into Caine's get. And further still they many are labeled as his childer when they are not, such as the case of Saulot. Who is said to have been the most favored of Caine's childer. But all are of Caine thus they all are of him. Caine is said to be master of all the Disciplines and hold the ability to create new powers at will. Caine is Caine he may do as he wishes. Though in none of the texts does it say Caine knows any of the clan specific disciplines such as Obtenebration or Necromancy... he holds mastery over the primary powers alone. Caine is said to have had only three Childer this is wrong, and of course excludes the supposed mortal children of his. These get include Enoch who is both in the text his mortal and his vampiric childe, Zilliah his bride and mother to Enoch depending on what you read, Irad his other son and in the same fashion both types of progeny, but even this is conflicted. Those are the ones known. But there are and were others... As books like Kindred of the East can attest. The Crone is one of his childer... a Mage in life she blood bound Caine to become immortal he staked her and left her for the sun and is thought to be dead, Ravnos the namesake of the Clan slain and betrayed by Ennoia aka. Gangrel, Two others are said to have existed before Enoch slain by the one known as Haqim who later begot the clan Assamite and further still Caine is said to have possibly embraced Lillith but this remains vehement speculation.
