We would like to say a very grateful thank you to all of the many publishers who graciously permitted the music educators of Wisconsin to virtually submit videos and music PDFs as part of the 2020-21 WSMA Virtual Solo & Ensemble Festival. You allowed our student musicians to have a little bit of normalcy during this pandemic that has taken so many special events away from them. The response we had was phenomenal! We would also like to assure you that we have followed through with our promise to delete all PDFs and video submissions from the fall festival cycle. In addition, the spring festival submissions will be deleted by the end of May once all evaluations are complete. Adjusting Our Rotation of Event Evaluations This year, Wisconsin School Music Association will be modifying its yearly publisher submissions rotation for our festival music list. The standard rotation of updates will be delayed by one year, as we use the upcoming festival season to allow our teachers a chance to settle back into their normal routines while also focusing on creating more diversity on our festival music list. Please carefully review the information below to better understand our submission needs for this summer. Immediate Need for 2021-22 WSMA Festival Music List While there will be no specific event categories with major changes for the 2021-22 WSMA Festival Music List, we are looking to diversify composer representation. We encourage you to send us music by female, LGBTQ+, and composers of color for any of our event lists. Submission priority date: JUNE 23, 2021. Please know, however, that we will continue to accept music submissions that represent diversity, equity and inclusivity throughout the year for any of our event lists. Submissions not received in time for the 2021-22 Music List review will be kept for future consideration. - Continued - Request of Submissions for 2022-23 WSMA Festival Music List You are invited to send review scores of best sellers and appropriate new releases for the events under review. We ask that you consider literature that represents and recognizes diversity, equity, and inclusion through a broad scope of genre, composers and arrangers. Simply send your submissions directly to WSMA and we will distribute your materials to our evaluators on your behalf. For the 2022-2023 WSMA Festival Music List, we will be considering submissions for the following music events. A detailed listing of events follows this letter.
