Topography of the Area a) Regional Ukwa deposit is located on Baihar plateau, which forms a part of roughly North South Trending Maikal range, which in turns form a part of satpura range. Around Balaghat the landscape is plain with elevations of 250m above mean sea level(m.s.l.) from about 15km northeast of balaghat the elevation is abruptly rise to more than 450m above m.s.l. constituting the Baihar plateau, which rises further on the eastern side reaching 833 m above msl. About 10km north of Ukwa. Around ukwa the elevation is b) Project Area The ukwa manganese deposit is conspicuous by a north easterly trending linear ridge, Rising from ground level at about 600m above msl at gudma to about 700 m about msl at the northeastern and of the deposit, called samnapur section,. The ridge has a gentle slope towards north and a comparatively higher slope towards south. The general morphological expression of laterite overlies the top deccan baalts. The low lying areas skirting the plateaus are undulating with small hill ranges trending ENE- 9. Drainage in the Area (River / Nala etc) a) Regional there is no major river in the area and the drainage scattered all over the place. However, two branches of slightly bigger nalas are running in the southeastern part. The drainage in the entire area is dendritic .The distance of Kis and Nahra river are 5kms and 15 kms respectively from the lease area. The entire mine topography is hilly with steep as well as gradual deeping slopes. There are no prominent water curses within mine and rain water during mansoon 02/02/2019 04:24 PM Page 2 of 7 697 Government of India Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Applications for Issue of NOC to Abstract Ground Water (NOCAP) Application for Permission to Dewater Ground Water for Mining Industry (Application for New NOC) Application Number : 21-4/624/MP/MIN/2017 b) Project Area Drainage around ukwa is through a southerly flowing Kis Nallah and a Northerly flowing Nahra river , kis and Nehra form tributaries of Deo and Uskal rivers. Deo and Uskal finally join the Wainganga river, the main channel of drainage of the region The entire mine topography is hilly with steep as well as gradual deeping slopes. There are no prominent water curses within mine and rain water during mansoon drains into nallah through a network of storm water drain.the nallah water is eventually 10. Source of Availability of Surface Water There is no perennial water source in this area.Ground – Furnish Details: water is the principal source of water. At present, open dug wells and tube wells with hand pumps available to the residence. From which potable water is being supplied to the residence of the area. 11.
