Around about a year ago I stood before you at our 2019 AGM meeting and outlined the following for 2020 in the President’s Report. Our events calendar in 2020 is looking as robust as ever, we will again run � Triple T Day and Sprints in February � Autumn Historic Warwick in May � Winter Noosa Hillclimb in June � Historic Queensland in July � Summer Noosa Hillclimb in November As they say, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry Covid-19 or rather government responses world-wide to the virus put paid to a great deal of motorsport locally, nationally, and internationally. Regardless, we managed to get two events done this year, Triple T Day and Sprints in February, and our recent “No Frills Historic Warwick.” Now it must be recognised that these events would not have occurred without the determination and bloody hard work of the HRCC management and race committees. And I might add, their partners that support them and support our club, on an ongoing and often unrecognised basis. A hell of a lot of work went on behind the scenes for the last event, just making it happen. In particular, the Covid-19 compliance. They all deserve a big round of applause for their efforts. Now this year the HRCC Management Committee decided not to let this enforced hiatus put club’s visions on hold. As you are aware, we asked members for comments on 10 objectives we believed are necessary to move the club forward in the 21st century. We received great positive and supportive feedback and responses to the suggestions from members. Well done club! To recount these objectives • A Parts and Service Reference Booklet for members and sponsors. • Identify and appoint a suitable club patron. • Sponsor a charity to improve our clubs standing in the community. • To establish and implement HRCC Management Code of Conduct. • To address the short and long term financial security for the club. • The diversification of our club membership for the future of historic motor sport, to grow we need to encourage younger competitors and female competitors, as well as those who have been traditionally interested in the sport. • Obtain government participation and promotion in out events and processes. • Establish a base for our club with HRCC clubrooms, preferably one that earns income and can meet our needs for storage and administration. • Increase events and competitor numbers. • Develop new and expand stakeholder partnerships. Now I could talk for hours on each one, but you will be pleased to know I will not. Nearly all of these objectives have commenced in one form or another, and you should, if you have read Ian Welsh’s great work in the Historic Torque be aware that the well-known and respected grandfather of Australian Motorsport Mr.
