ABOUT THE PLAY In The Fez, the charmed spell of the theater has somehow absented itself, and something strange happens. A play that was originally printed on a tee shirt is finally produced! In The Sandalwood Box, college student Marsha Gates lost her voice. On her way to speech therapy, she encounters Professor Claudia Mitchell, who captures the most captivating catastrophes of the world and preserves them in a sandalwood box. He’s trained with Christopher Bayes, Jim Calder, Brian McManamon, and did a semester at the National Theater Institute. In 2016 he was waitlisted for NYU Grad Acting’s Class of 2019 and in the same year attended callback weekend at the Yale School of Drama. He’s pretty darn good. RORA BRODWIN (Eliza Doolittle) is a NYC based actor, playwright, and screenwriter. New York stage credits include: A Modest Proposal (Cherry Lane Theater), Gather ‘Round (Dixon Place), Rosencrantz and The Sandalwood Box & Fez Guildenstern are Dead (The Brick), So Sad, So Sexy (Rising Sun Lab), and Bunny, Godmother of Title IX (Dixon Place and Yale), for which she won the Yale Trumbull College Fine Arts Award. She is a recent graduate of Yale University where she performed as Salieri in Amadeus, Major Powell in Men on Boats, and Soldier in The Square Root of Three Sisters (Yale School of Drama and Krymov production). This is Ryan’s third year as a Bat with The Flea, and has also performed with Berkshire Theatre Festival, HERE Arts Center, The New Ohio Theatre, Nashville Rep, Harold Clurman Lab, The Grand Ole Opry, among others. Ryan frequently performs 43 with Ten Bones Theatre in the smash hit improv comedy show Entirely From Memory and is an Academy Member of Upright Citizens Brigade.
