In 1959, the Institute became more comprehensive and was upgraded to university status. Today, Hanyang is home to about 35,000 students in 23 colleges and 13 graduate schools. To continue its momentum of progress, Hanyang University has been striving to promote internationalization and consequently, 500 courses instructed in English per semester by 150 foreign professors are now available. Also, through the Hanyang International Summer School (HISS), which offers more than 40 courses taught in English from distinguished educators, the University hosts more than 400 students from around the world.
