Warriors of Warwick The End of Days 2016 Welcome to the Warriors of Warwick – The End of Days Tournament 2016, hosted by The University of Warwick Gaming Club. The tournament will take place on the Saturday the 12th of March and will be one day event consisting of three games of Warhammer Fantasy Battles. This tournament pack was assembled with the help of Martin Dalzell, Sandy Wilson, Jamie Cross, Will Thatcher, Pete Foster, The University of Warwick Gaming Club, Kenilworth Gaming Club, Leamington Gaming Club and Ben Harris. The tournament organiser is Dan Tadman. E-mail – [email protected] Mobile – 07708961754 Please read the entire comp pack before coming as you will lose tournament points if you don’t do what is asked! Venue- The tournament will take place at- Room B2.01/B2.02 Science Concourse University of Warwick Coventry CV4 7AL The easiest way to get to the University is via the M40. There will be plenty of parking available nearby, the closest car parks being 7, 8 and 15 (red squares on the map). The easiest way to find the tournament (the thick red square on the map) is to find the main entrance to the library, walk up the outside staircase and cross over the bridge to the Science Concourse, walking away from the library building. Going through the main doors, you should see the Chemistry Department on your left and the Engineering Department on your right. Go through the double doors in front of you and room B2.01 is on the left, with B2.02 just beyond. The University and the nearby towns of Kenilworth and Leamington have several places with places to eat and stay the night if this is desired. There is a shop on campus and a number of vending machines in the library and science concourse building. Please remember to order your pizza at the time of registration. Timetable - 08.00 – 09.00 – set up and registration 09.00 – 09.15 – announcements 09.15 – 11.45 – Game 1 – Battleline 12.15 – 12.45 – Lunch/painting award nominations 12.45 – 15.15 – Game 2 – Battleline 15.15 – 15.30 – Afternoon Break 15.30 – 18.00 – Game 3 – Battleline 18.00 – 19.00 – Pack up and awards ceremony The timetable has changed to allow more people to complete their games. However, if you fail to complete your game on time, both players will lose a tournament point unless it can be proved that one player was the main issue, in which case only he will lose points (which maybe one or two depending on the situation). Frequent countdowns will be given. Payment- The tournament will be £20 for the day. The ticket will include three games of Warhammer Fantasy, a large dominoes pizza and soft drinks and snacks. Please send the money over paypal to [email protected]. Please use the ‘pay friends and family option’ so paypal will not take some money off the amount sent! We regret that we cannot accept anyone under the age of 16. This is a university rule and something we cannot do anything about! What You Need to Bring - Your army Movement trays for any unit of 3 or more models Warhammer 8th edition rulebook The latest edition of your army book 2 printed copies of your army list Any FAQs you will be relying on – if you don’t have it and a copy can’t be found, expect to be ruled against! Three pieces of terrain – a wood, a hill and a building/monument. It is important to remember to bring these things or the tables will end up looking bare! You will lose 4 tournament points on the day if you do not bring your terrain so please remember! All models need to be fully assembled. Proxy models and armies are allowed as long as obvious effort has been applied to assemble/convert said model to represent the unit desired – i.e. a Terrorgheist can be used as dragon model if it has been converted and painted to represent this change. Armies of plastic insects stuck on bases, for example, will not be allowed. If there is any uncertainty about a model/army, please contact Dan at least a week before the tournament. Fully painted armies are desirable but not required. This is meant to be a one day, relaxed event for a few people to play new armies if desired. Obviously, only a fully/mostly painted army can win the best painted award. All units with 3 or more models in must have a movement tray. Selecting Your Army - Armies may be up to 2500 points – they may be under this, but may not be over. Please send all lists to [email protected] by the Sunday the 28th of February. Late lists will be subject to a penalty at the tournament organisers’ discretion. Before the last Warriors of Warwick tournament, several people attempted to change their lists at the last minute. This can’t happen again because of the larger amount of lists that have to be marked before the tournament! The format should be Quartermaster file or a Word file set up as explained below. Name of player, race, gaming club (if any) and comp score Unit (points), General/magic lore, Upgrades (points), Total points Percentages of lords, heroes, core, special and rare Army total The tournament will not be using the new composition percentages which have accompanied the latest set of updates Games Workshop has brought out for Warhammer Fantasy. This means that both Lords and Heroes are still only allowed to be 25% of the total points. This is because I would like a reasonably balanced tournament and I don’t want any wreaking face with Nagash or multiple Daemon Princes. The new(er) End Times army lists (including the new Undead, Elven, Chaos armies etc) and new special characters will also not be allowed as I believe they unbalance what was previously a fairly well balanced game. Also, it is very unlikely that anyone will have an End Times army which cannot be used to create a pre-End Times 8th Edition list. No part of the rules presented in the End Time supplements will be used in the tournament games, including any that change any official rules in the rulebook. Special characters will be allowed. Composition - This tournament will be using the Rollcall comp system. Several changes have been made so please read this carefully. In summary, all players are free to choose any and all units and magic items that they would like to take, but they are encouraged to behave themselves! They may bring what they wish - 1200 point units, 27 war machines, as many phoenixes as they can shoehorn into a list. But if they bring the worst filth known to Warhammer kind they will pay for it! This comp is intended for use in games between 2000 and 2500 points. Once you’ve written your army list, start at zero and then add or subtract as appropriate from the Generic Magic Item list and your army specific list to give you your final composition score. Note it is possible to end up with a negative score. The army comp scores are limited to +10 but there is no lower limit. In addition, you may only claim a positive score from a unit type twice, although you are free to have as many units as you wish i.e. three units of Mounted Yeomen can be taken but will only count as +2 to the comp score instead of +3. At the end of the tournament, your final composition score will be added or subtracted as appropriate from your tournament points to give your final score. The comp score will also be used to match your first round opponent. Generic Composition Rules – The following generic magic items will attract composition points if taken in your army: -1 for the Crown of Command -1 for the Standard of Discipline -3 for Fozzrik’s Folding Fortress +2 for the Arabyan Carpet +2 for the Wizarding Hat +1 for Shivejir’s Hex Scroll The following bonuses apply if the circumstances are met: +1 if your army does not include an item that automatically dispels a spell (such as the Dispel Scroll, Rune of Spellbreaking or the Cube of Darkness. This does not apply to Daemons of Chaos) +2 if your army includes a race-specific magic item that costs 60 points or more (note that Exalted Gifts from the Daemons of Chaos army book and Runic Items from the Dwarfs army book do not count, though Dwarf Ancestral Heirlooms do count) +2 if your army includes no magic users, spells or bound items (this does not apply to Dwarfs) Units (not characters or single models) that cost over a certain points value will attract penalties as per the below list: -1 per unit that costs between 450 and 599 points inclusive -3 per unit that costs between 600 and 749 points inclusive -5 per unit that costs 750 points or more These penalties are waived if a unit attracts a positive modifier. In addition, certain choices available to many armies have bonuses or penalties attached as follows: +1 for a non-spellcaster character mounted on a Monster +1 per character mounted on a Chariot -1 per character who knows 3 or more spells from the Lore of Death or the Lore of Life. Special Characters are exempt from this penalty as these penalties will be including in their comp score.
