The creation and transformation of Roman centrality, urban forms and landscape dynamics (Geo)archaeological evidence and historical data for the urban centres and their hinterland ROCT-IAP Symposium 25-26 November 2011 Leuven & Tongeren The symposium is an initiative to conclude the research programmes of the Roman Crafts and Trade network, funded by the Fund for Scientific Research-Flanders, and the Interuniversity Poles of Attraction P6/22 programme (IAP), funded by the Federal Science Policy Office-Belgium. The first day of the event is organized at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. The second day of the symposium takes place at the Gallo-Romeins Museum Tongeren, hosting the overview exhibition 'Sagalassos. City of Dreams'. 238 original pieces are on display showing all aspects of life in town and region from 10,000 BC until c. 1,250 AD, including top finds such as the colossal statues of Hadrian and Marcus Aurelius. The symposium will be concluded with a visit to the exhibition and closed with a conference dinner. Each IAP-partner (indicated in bold) invited a couple of colleagues, in order to provide more depth to our research in the four IAP study regions. Presentations are scheduled for 45 minutes, followed by 20 minutes animated discussion. Coffee, tea and refreshments will be available in the auditorium during the proceedings. It is our intention to publish the papers afterwards as an edited volume. Preliminary Programme Friday 25 November, Leuven 09:00 - 09:15 welcome by M. Waelkens The northern provinces 09:15 - 10:00 R.
