Cheshire County Cricket League 2016 NEWSLETTER : WEEK 3 MAY 7 / 8 Four batsmen score tons Bowdon beat champions ECB PREMIER League champions in 2014-15, Hyde lost for only the second time since June 27 when Bowdon beat tem by 20 runs to score a notable victory at South Downs Road. In a low-scoring game, Bowdon were bowled out for 154, Simon Marshall 48, Elliott Young 4-41. But Hyde’s strong batting line-up let them down and they were all out for 134 against the in-form Chris Ashling 5-50, helped by new man Ollie Makin 3-36. Boosted by the acquisition of Lancashire all-rounder Jordan Clark, Alderley Edge are looking strong and they notched a six wickets win at Urmston after bowling out their hosts for 168, Aussie Aaron Smillie 4-46. Callum Rowe top-scored with 45 as ‘Edge coasted home on 172-4. Toft also notched their second win with a remarkable batting performance at home to Bramhall after their visitors had done well to post 234-5, Lancashire starlet Danny Lamb 139 not out, Nick Cantello 57. Toft responded with a sparkling 237-1 from just 33 overs, another Lancashire hopeful Rob Jones (117) and new Aussie Morgan Clark (112) enjoying an unbroken second wicket stand worth 222. Timperley recorded their first-ever Premiership win, by 111 runs at home to Cheadle after dominating the day. Timpers posted 249-8, Craig Grindley 70, Paul Sperring 4-59 and apart from skipper Sperring, with an unbeaten 70, Cheadle had little to say in reply and were all out for 138, Chris Page 3-12. The Macclesfield v Chester Boughton Hall game was abandoned due to rain with seven overs remaining. Aussie Nick Berthus scored a fine unbeaten 121 for Macc out of 239-8, Jack Owen 5-31. CBH were 204-5 in reply with seven overs remaining when play ended, Rick Moore 61. Didsbury top Division One DIDSBURY made it three wins in a row at the top of Division One against Sale, whom they dismissed for 160, Ian Dixon 42. Good knocks from Jacob Roach, 43 and Tim Hughes, 42, saw Didsbury home by six wickets after tea. Weaverham’s second win was at the expense of Tattenhall at Wallerscote Road after they had mustered only 185-8, Wilden Corwall 44. Tatters reached 82-2 before being bowled out for 136, Weaverham’s excellence in the field being a telling factor. Oulton Park won by three wickets on the ground of neighbours Davenham, who batted first to total 132, Steve Bliss scoring 50 at number eight, while Andy Hards took 4-33. Park struggled at 30-4 before easing home at 135-7 thanks largely to Andy Mills’ unbeaten 41 Grappenhall beat Marple by eight wickets with an impressive display at Broad Lane. Andy Hall, 55 top-scored in Marple’s 195-7, Grappers replying with 198-2, new boy Peter Barnes 80 not out and skipper Adam Roylance 63. Cheadle Hulme emerged 12 – 7 points to the good at home to Warrington in a tight finish. Likewise Oxton closed 14 – 8 up on Bollington after posting 200-9, Mark DeBrabender 61, Stuart Plant 4-49. Bolly got to 184-8, Nathan Edgar 62. Lindow win clash of New Boys THE clash of the new boys in Division Two produced a 58 runs win for Lindow against Barrow. Richard Robinson scored 91 and Jake Martin 90 for Lindow, while Iro De Silva hit 61 for the losers, routed by fine bowling by Alex Bosshardt, 6-29. Widnes won by nine wickets at Congleton, Stockport by eight wickets at Northwich and Upton by 117 runs at Christleton. Brooklands beat Mobberley by 30 runs and Andy Bennion thrashed a spectacular unbeaten 99 in Alvanley’s winning draw at Middlewich.
