Rod McCulloch (CTC rep) (RM) Barry Grattan (BG) Georgina Lomnitz (GL) Andrea Polden (AP) Action 19/23 Apologies for Absence Apologies were received from Alan Wallwork (AW), Mark Brookes (MB), Jenny Richardson, Maureen Winders (MW) and Ralph Adam. 19/24 Minutes of the Meeting of 19th February 2019 The Minutes of the Meeting held on 19th February 2019 were approved and signed. 19/25 Matters Arising The proposed visit to Chesham signal box, was in hand. AW RM reported that nothing further had been heard from Redline buses regarding short workings on certain return journeys of route 55 from Aylesbury thereby missing out Chesham. He would speak again to the Town Clerk. RM 19/26 Treasury Matters CE updated the Meeting on the current Bank Balance, which now stands at £106. 19/27 Federation of Met Line User Committees Association (FOMLUC) CE gave a resume of the issues discussed at the recent FOMLUC meeting. In particular, mention was made of the 7km cable in Ickenham to power the HS2 borer. The poor state of the moquette in the S stock trains was also noted. 19/28 Ongoing Operational Issues The following issues were discussed:- MW had reported increased activity by beggars on Met Line trains the last incident being on 14th March 2019, which had been notified to FOMLUC. CE reported that on speaking to one of the signalmen at Amersham recently, the Chesham branch was said to be operationally difficult and that the Chesham people were considered to be “a stroppy lot”. CE had noticed that the ATO was now in operation at White City. 19/29 Step-Free Access at Amersham Station CE referred to the work now underway at Amersham and Harrow on the Hill Stations. Not much appeared to be happening at either location, certainly during daylight hours, although workmen had been seen moving scaffold poles at Amersham. Initials …… AW had circulated photographs taken recently at both locations showing the extent of the work from which it was noted that one of the notices at Harrow on the Hill confirmed that completion was due by April 2020. AW had also requested from TfL plans and elevations of the proposed works at Amersham but nothing had been received yet. AW 19/30 East-West Rail Link Update CE drew attention to the documents circulated with the Agenda. 19/31 Highlights from 2018 The Meeting examined a document circulated with the Agenda, highlighting the Group’s achievements during the previous year. 19/32 Any Other Business AP agreed to monitor the rubbish clearance at Jacob’s Ladder. AP CE would be chasing up FOE about the incidents on 11th and 12th February. CE CE reported on a recent visit to signal boxes at Neasden and Amersham. It was noted that MB had experienced further incidences of the train describer being incorrect, this time at Moor Park and photographs had been sent by AW to FOMLUC to follow up with TfL. AW Attention was drawn to an article in the Evening Standard of 20th March 2019 in which it was stated that despite tube passengers generating a bumper £823m “profit” for TfL thanks to the annual increase in Travelcard prices, nevertheless TfL as a whole will make an overall loss of £742m in 2019/20 largely due to the record £722m subsidy needed to run the bus network. It was also noted that TfL had put the Camden Town Station and Piccadilly Line signalling upgrades on hold. Attention was drawn to a steam train run on the District Line on 22nd/23rd June 2019 to commemorate 150 years of operation. Tickets would go on sale on 27th March 2019 and it was significant as because of the signalling upgrade taking place on all sub-surface lines, this would preclude future steam train operations and would probably prevent future excursions by Sarah Siddons due to the absence of necessary equipment to operate the new signals. Chesham TUG had been approached by Chesham Masterplan in an effort to setting up a meeting with senior TfL staff to discuss proposals for Chesham Station as part of Chesham Masterplan.
