This was the beginning of our Democracy. Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality under the Political Leadership of Executive Mayor, Cllr Tshepo Justice Makolomakwa, Welcome the newly appointed MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Department of Human Settlement, Hon. Mothibedi Kegakilwe. The MEC, who is amongst other passionate about the role that Communications plays in Government, says he is passionate about this function of which during his engagement with Local Government Communicators he urged that there is a need for Communicators to be the proper face of government as they at all times communicate government messages with one voice. In this issue 42 of Modiri External Newsletter, we demonstrate the extent at which the Municipality delivers its mandate at providing quality services to Communities through various projects and programmes. The Executive Mayor has acknowledged the challenges faced by the residents of Ngaka Modiri Molema on the scarcity of water due the low water level sources as this District is a dependent on ground water sources and Villages such as Magogoe Koikoi, Central and Majemantsho in the Mahikeng Local are amongst others affected by lack of water and are benefitting from the Drought Relief Programme funded by Department of Water and Sanitation. Despite these challenges, the Municipality has completed 3 water projects in Springbokpan, Meetmekaar and Schoongezicht which installed yard connections to more than 2 000 households. Other Projects such as the one in Bakerville are among the projects that were supported by the Department of Water and Sanitation and implemented through Sedibeng Water as delivery of Water is a shared responsibility with the Department of water and sanitation; and Sedibeng Water as an implementing agent.
