Hassia Diolombi, a partner at Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP, is a member of her firm’s Global Product Liability Group. Ms. Diolombi is a 2012 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow. Corali Lopez-Castro, managing partner at Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton, concentrates her practice on bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters. Ms. Lopez-Castro was the second woman president of the Cuban American Bar Association. The goal of the Trial Skills Workshop is to assist women trial attorneys in improving their trial skills. It utilizes a “learning by doing” format. Each participant will receive individualized feedback from the faculty and will learn ways to improve their trial techniques. Honorable Gill S. Freeman 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida Gill S. Freeman is a Circuit Court Judge in the 11th Judicial Circuit, Miami- Dade County. She is presently assigned to the Family Law Division. She was previously assigned to the Complex Business Litigation Section of the Circuit Court, the first judge to serve in that capacity in Miami Dade County. Prior to her appointment to the bench in 1997, Judge Freeman practiced commercial and family law for 20 years. She received her Bachelors of Education from Temple University, her Masters of Education from the University of Miami and her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from the University of Miami. She is presently Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Miami-Dade County Law Library and has spearheaded fundraising efforts to keep the library open, despite recent cuts in government funding. She is also Dean of Advanced Judicial Studies for the State of Florida. She was formerly Chair of the Florida Supreme Court Standing Committee on Diversity and Fairness. She was Vice-Chair of the Florida Supreme Court Gender Bias Study Commission and Chair of the Gender Bias Study Implementation Commission. Recently, Judge Freeman received The Jewish Federation of Greater Miami Community Service Award, a Special Recognition Award from the Cuban American Bar Association and Sabadell Bank’s Community Service Award. In 2008, Judge Freeman was invited to be a panelist at the State Department on issues of International Access to Justice. She is past president of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers and a recipient of the FAWL’s Rosemary Barkett Outstanding Achievement Award. Moderator: Judge Jacqueline Hogan Scola Mary Barzee Flores, a litigation shareholder at Stearns Weaver Miller Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A., represents individuals and corporations in complex commercial litigation and arbitration. In 1990, she joined the Federal Public Defender’s Office where for twelve years, trying over 40 federal jury trials to verdict throughout the Southern District of Florida. In 2003, Ms. Barzee joined the bench of the 11th Judicial Circuit, Miami-Dade County. She presided over thousands of cases, tried over a hundred civil and criminal jury trials to verdict and heard appeals from the county court and various administrative bodies. Among other appointments over the course of her career, she has served on the Florida Innocence Commission and the Florida Supreme Court Criminal Court Steering Committee. Breezye Telfair has been employed as an Assistant State Attorney with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office for seven years. During her time as an Assistant State Attorney, Ms. Telfair has focused primarily on homicide cases and has tried approximately 40 trials to verdict. Currently, Ms. Telfair investigates and prosecutes Hate Crime, Public Corruption and Homicide cases. Edith Osman, a partner at Carlton Fields, P.A., practices in the areas of business litigation, matrimonial law, and mediation. She has significant experience representing clients in dissolution of marriage proceedings, post-divorce modifications and enforcement, child custody, property evaluation, equitable distribution of marital assets, pre & post nuptial agreements, and paternity actions. Ms. Osman’s contributions to the community are too numerous to list. Highlights include her service as a member of the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association; the second female president of The Florida Bar; and president of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society. She is a past president of both FAWL and of the Miami-Dade Chapter. Jacqueline Hogan Scola, Circuit Judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit, currently sits in the Civil Division. Judge Scola was elected to the circuit court bench without opposition in 2003 and again in 2009. In 2000-2001, she served as president of FAWL, having previously served as secretary and treasurer. The Miami-Dade Chapter awarded Judge Scola the Mattie Belle Davis Award in 2007. She teaches in the Litigation Skills Program at the University of Miami School of Law. She is also chair of the Florida Supreme Court Committee on Jury Instructions in Criminal Cases, and is a member of the Florida Bar Rules of Civil Procedure Committee.
