As exciting as the prospect of a car that drives itself is, there are two separate introductions to the consumer market. The first being robotaxis, driven in limited, well-defined, urban, geo-fenced areas, and the second being personal ownership, which are able to be driven anywhere, in any condition. In both introductions, it’s important that Congress and the technology providers are working closely to define what constitutes as the right and wrong way for deploying this technology for consumer safety, urban planning and overall adoption.
