moistboyz iv album download Moistboyz iv album download. Self-professed "holdouts in a nation of pussies and jerk-offs." The press release for Moistboyz's previous album, III , has a number of illuminating things to say about the band, not least among them being, "The Moistboyz know this will offend the androgyny of the modern person, and the young intellectual. The Moistboyz are holdouts in a nation of pussies and jerk-offs." Since the Pitchfork readership is mainly comprised of modern androgynes, young intellectuals, pussies, and jerk-offs, it's safe to say that the only reason we're covering this record is because it's Dean Ween's cock-metal side project. And hey, don't be offended by this characterization of the Pitchfork audience; take it as a compliment: Add "Europeans" and "fags" to these pejoratives and you've got a pretty exhaustive list of things that anti-intellectuals use as shorthand to describe anyone goin' around all usin' their brains and stuff. So on first glance you'd have to be either incredibly stupid or terminally ironic to like this record. There is a third option, if those don't suit: There is a class of reasonably intelligent people that is attracted to all things willfully stupid and crude, a stance that seems to stem from a misconstrued notion of the value of transgression and a reaction against the intellectual posturing of academics. This is the portion of the population entirely responsible for Team America DVD sales, and Moistboyz IV is just one "Fuck yeah!" away from being its soundtrack. It sounds like the Hot Snakes trying to figure out whether they want to be Motörhead or the Scorpions, which isn't so bad. It's the lyrics that really grate, but if the slogans to be found on Urban Outfitters t-shirts are any indication, willful stupidity is still cool, so there's probably a market for it. Whether Moistboyz's gross-out schlock is earnest or satiric makes little difference: Either way, grim doings are afoot. It starts out okay, with three silly but entertaining anti-America screeds. "I Don't Give a Fuck Where the Eagle Flies", is pretty funny, and it's a damn sight better than the jingoistic John Ashcroft anthem it ripostes. "Uncle Sam and Me" celebrates the illusory power of rock in the face of fascism, with its snarled chorus of "Don't take my rock and roll/ Because it's all I am" offsetting its straightforwardly anti-patriotic verses. But by the time "Roy", the funny song about pedophilia rolls around, with "Everybody'd Fucked Her" hot on its heels, you start to miss Warrant, who at least had the class to obscure their misogyny with pastry metaphors, and Electric 6, whose self-skewering shtick sounded more like an indictment of the ugly American than a self-satisfied, anti-intellectual glorification of it. Moistboyz II. The second outing and first full-length from this Ween offshoot is more of the same blatantly offensive, hard rocking, and uproariously funny metal that the group displayed on their debut EP. Any record that opens with a track including the observation "just because you suck one dick, it doesn't mean you're gay," is obviously not going to appeal to everyone, but those who laugh will continue to chuckle for the extent of the record's ten humorously offensive rockers. Similar in style to Ween's heavy-handed thrashing rock efforts, Moistboyz take dirty guitar solos and dirty lyrics, all of which are combined in tracks that take on hippies, crank, and a general soft spot for sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Easily offended listeners might object to seemingly racist or homophobic views from the Mighty Whitey Lyricist, Dickie Moist, but anyone familiar with Mickey (Melchiondo) Moist's work in Ween should realize that the band is rocking out with their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks. Drunk, high, and obnoxious, Moistboyz don't care if you get their jokes or not. The seemingly dissolved side project served as an outlet for Melchiondo's off-center musical styles, and while the whole record certainly plays like a delusional case of Tourette's set to rock music, those that have followed the chaotic guitarist in the past will probably be able to find a few songs to sing along to at the end of a long night. Moistboyz III. Mickey Moist (aka Dean Ween) and Dickie Moist have created one mean and burley beast of an album that will have you conjuring up images of escaped convicts, white-trash crank-heads, shotgun racks, broken whiskey bottles, and bloodied noses in no time flat. On III the boys have enough piss n' vinegar running through their veins that they make prefab mean and scary acts like Disturbed or the pseudo-redneck posturing of Kid Rock look as weak and fake as they really are. Each song on III is played like these boys' lives depended on it, with their stripped-down, barebones, raunchy punk metal-blues that feel like ZZ Top's Tres Hombres, Hell Bent for Leather-era, Judas Priest, and Black Flag circa Damaged all rolled into one. III never lets up for a second, going simultaneously for your jugular and funny bone with such classic song titles as "Shitheel," "The Tweaker," "In the Valley of the Sun," "Great American Zero," and "I Am the Reaper." Lyrically, Dickie Moist is just as twisted, angry, and crass as ever, spouting out dirty jokes and images that, if you don't offend easily, are worth a good laugh or two. Moistboyz prove on III that, joke band or not, they've got the right riffs and enough attitude to hold their own against any hard rock band out there. You can also bet that one listen to III by any earthy, mellow fan of Ween will have them running straight for the hills quicker than you can say crystal meth. Moistboyz iv album download.
