According to records, the highest number of dengue cases that were reported was 54. This year, the mark has been crossed. Ward 12, 15 and 16 are the most affected regions of the city. The state government had sanctioned Rs. 66 lakhs to the State Health Department for conducting a survey that would eventually help them to curb dengue. The Siliguri Municipal Corporation has also instructed the Councillors to collect the information about the menace of dengue in their Wards by reaching out to each house of the area. Moreover, arrangements are being made for sprinkling bleaching powder, fogging and for filling the drains with mosquito repellent oils in each Ward. The Mayor of the city, Ashok Bhattacharya has come forward himself to make the people of the city aware about dengue. He also visited some of the wards to review the situation there.
