Behavioral analysis: field- and laboratory based studies (social and fitness-related behaviors, antipredator and predator behaviors). Organismal bioassays: embryotoxicity and metamorphosis bioassays, immobilization and reproduction bioassays, physiological responses (e.g., in ovo ventilatory rate in cuttlefish embryos). In vivo toxicity bioassays: biomarkers of cell oxidative stress and detoxification (catalase, GST), peroxidation of membranes (TBARS), neurotransmitter (monoamines, metabolites and receptors) and stress hormone (cortisol, corticosterone) quantification. In vitro toxicity bioassays: cell viability (MTT test), stability of cell membranes (Neutral Red Retention assay), immunotoxicity (phagocytic activity, ROS production). Technical skills: enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), radioimmunoassay (RIA), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), flow cytometry, RNA extraction and PCR, qRT-PCR. Image analysis: GIMP and ImageJ softwares, Jwatcher (ethograms).
