The female athlete of the Jump, Pole Vault (Mixed Medley Relay) year award is a huge honour, as Brooke was judged the best athlete from all sporting programs in SASI. Enfield Harriers News Page 3 SA Sports Star of the Year Congratulations to Brooke Billett who has been nominated for the 2006 South Australia Sports Start of the Year. ―A gold-medal performance at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne last year thrust Brooke Krueger-Billett into the international spotlight. The junior primary teacher from Dernancourt Primary School won a gold medal in the hammer-throw event. In front of 80,000 people, the champion athlete broke a Games record with a throw of 67.9m. She beat a field of 12, including Manchester gold-medallist Lorraine Shaw of England to win the event.‖ The SA Sports Star of the year will be announced on Friday, February 23 at the SA wine centre.
