We will embark on a memorable experience and a renewed hope will arise. The Games come at a time when the world needs to be inspired by the example of sport. The athletes will show us what humanity is capable of. And it only takes us to be connected with the right values: the values of sport, inclusion and non-discrimination. Brazil had the dream to be the first country in South America to host the Olympic Games. We reaffirm our promise that these will be unforgettable moments, and this is only possible thanks to the tireless efforts of everyone involved. I would like to thank President Thomas Bach and the International Olympic Committee for repeatedly showing us the true meaning of the word “friendship”.
