Research Topics • Evolutionary mixing processes: Evolution of low- and intermediate-mass stars, from the pre- main-sequence to the He-burning phase. Mixing processes: dredge-ups, extra-mixing, rotation- induced mixing. Elemental abundances: Li, Be, B, 12C, 13C, N, O, and Na. • Chemical composition of planet-host stars: Planet-metallicity correlation, metallicity scale of giants and dwarfs hosting planets, chemical abundances and influence on planet formation, presence of planets and evolution of Li abundances. • Chemical evolution of the light elements Li and Be: Be as a cosmochronometer, the Spite plateau, Be relations with Fe and O and its flattening at low-metallicities (a Be plateau?), Li and Be in globular clusters (tracing the dilution-pollution scenario). • Galactic archaeology: Halo subpopulations (detailed chemical abundances { including Be), his- tories of star formation and chemical enrichment in the Galaxy, abundances as tracers of merg- ing/accretion events, thick disk formation. • Stellar nucleosynthesis (s-process): s-process enriched stars, at low- and solar-metallicity. Participation in Large Projects • Gaia-ESO Survey: A spectroscopic survey that is observing ∼105 Galactic stars with FLAMES at VLT/ESO. It was allocated 300 nights during 5 years (2011-2016). The Gaia-ESO consortium includes more than 400 astronomers. I am co-coordinator of the \UVES FGK Spectrum Analysis Working Group", a position of high responsibility and visibility. The working group is composed of ∼60 researchers from ∼20 institutes. We derive atmospheric parameters and elemental abundances of FGK stars observed in high-resolution (see Smiljanic et al. 2014). • Maunakea Spectroscopic Explorer (MSE): MSE is a project to transform the CFHT 3.6m optical telescope into a 10m class dedicated multi-object spectroscopy (able to obtain thousands of spectra with resolution between 2,000 and 20,000). Science operations are expected for 2025. I have recently (August 2018) become a member of the MSE science team. The science team has been tasked with a revision of the detailed science case and the development of the first phase of the MSE Design Reference Survey (DRS). The DRS is planned as a 2 year observing campaign that will demonstrate the science impact of MSE. • WG on Cosmostatistics: I am a member of the Working Group on Cosmostatistics of the In- ternational Astrostatistics Association. The group aims to foster the collaboration between as- tronomers and statisticians.
