Award Ceremony and Exhibition Launch of “CHALLENGE FOR THE URBAN & BUILT ENVIRONMENT [CUBE] 2010” Synopsis: Organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), CUBE is an Urban Planning and Design workshop and competition for Pre-University (Pre-U) students. Building on the success of “Challenge of the Urban and Built Environment” in 2009, URA organised a second instalment of the workshop with the aim to create greater awareness on the importance of a well-designed built environment, as well as to share and cultivate an appreciation of Singapore’s unique planning dilemmas, among another group of pre-university students (JC-1 and Polytechnic level), The three-and-a-half-day workshop and competition is part of AUDE’s ongoing public education efforts to build up students’ awareness of the urban and built environment. Held in the URA Centre from 1 to 4 June 2010, CUBE 2010 seeks to educate the students on the basic principles of urban planning, architecture and urban design.
