I would like to thank the volunteers First VP: Darcy Wiltse Second VP: Joe Spatafora and staff for their countless hours of work that make our season run Director of Elite Hockey: Will Jang so smooth. We always experience a few hiccups but when we step Director of Community Hockey: Kevin Humphrys back and look at the big picture, over 8,500 athletes hit the ice and Director at Large: Ed Croken played a solid seven months of hockey. Director at Large: Bruce Howlett Treasurer: Berry Bentz Next year, the 2018-19 season will see some significant changes as Past President: Betty Chmilar we align with Hockey Alberta’s “Alberta One” concept. This will mean we’ll have six tiers of hockey, along with Elite in the case of Bantam Board of Directors and Midget. What will this look like? When you’ve registered for a tier 3 tournament you will be closely matched with other teams in the Knights of Columbus EFHC: Marc Aubee province and we won’t experience these huge gaps in team talent. NE District: Darlene Hein NW District: Myles Diamond Hockey Edmonton will begin the roll out of Hockey Canada’s novice SE District: Gerald Kruhlak program, which may see age range hockey. Development will be a SW District: Larry Shaben key component with this program. The goal is to grow better skilled EGHA: Bryan Toles | CAC: Richard McAdie MLAC: Neil Brown | SSAC: Ted Boomer players, who can compete and play at higher levels especially when Knights of Columbus AA: Bruce Fitzpatrick they hit pee wee, bantam and midget. Junior B: Larry Lepine | Junior C: George Metez Local associations will have standards they will be required to meet Standing Committees as an organization when it comes to governance and reporting. This falls under Hockey Alberta’s “Ideal MHA” program. Ice Allocation: Bernie Coderre Ice Management: Pat Elliott We continue to grow our relationships with local, provincial, national Minor Hockey Week Chair: Joan Kirillo and now international organizations such as Harbin, China. Hockey EOCF 50-50: Sam Gaekle Edmonton hosted the Harbin China Girls Team in late November. Referee Representatives: We’ve opened the door for our teams, both male and female, to visit Herman Costa (AA) & Duncan MacDougall (Federation) China for future tournaments. League Governors Hockey Edmonton is working on a possible leadership conference for pee wee, bantam and midget team leaders; we will keep everyone Edmonton Federation Hockey League posted on how this is progressing. Midget: Kim Turner (Acting) Your Hockey Edmonton board and executive have been busy over Bantam: Kim Turner the past few months on many projects to improve the hockey Pee Wee: Crystal Feader experience and add positive life lessons to our sport.
