Weeks giving family news and announcing the birth of a son to sister Amelia GenL 8 2 Dec 1850 Yaphank. To his brother from L.M. Weeks telling him of the death of their grandchild, Susan, and congratulating her brother and his daughter on her daughter‟s forthcoming marriage GenL 9 4 Jun 1850 To Samuel Jones, Schenectady from his brother, James Duane. Asking his brother to send him the Redemption receipts before the publication of some sale of land for taxes two weeks hence. GenL 10 6 Jun 1832 Fort Capron. (Letter shows 1852) S.W. Jones telling that if he had the means and goods he would open a store in St. Augustine, telling of the inhabitants dissatisfied with the present merchants. GenL 11 9 Nov 1753 To Mr. Schermerhorn in Albany. 25 barrels flour shipped on Mr. Schermerhorn‟s account. Two bills of lading are enclosed here. He is remitting Mr. S. the net proceeds in goods. GenL 12 30 Aug 1753 New York. To Mr. Reyes Schermerhorn from Mr. William Smith giving his opinion relating to the Will of Claes Janse; Under the Schenectady patent and also the General Draft of a Deed for the conveyance of such rights; he gives Mr. Van Brockhoven a receipt for what he said was paid. Re: Chancery Suit, the bill can not be drawn until the winter, and Mr. Smith advised Mr. Schermerhorn to make good use of his time preparing the information according to the directions (before given). GenL 13 5 May 1753 New York. Ryer Schermerhorn from William Smith. It is necessary for Mr. Schermerhorn to come to town immediately in re: to the Bradt case and bring all his papers with him. Mr. Smith‟s son has been retained by the other side. GenL 14 10 Jun 1762 To Ryer Schermerhorn, Schenectady from John Hansen re: whether his grandfather‟s right of the patient of Reyerse Van Voor Hout; Mr. Smith has found he has done that by deed; the receipt will be sent to you. Your grandfather has legally disposed of it. The original copy of the deed you shall see. GenL 15 5 May 1800 Two letters to James Smith from W. Tobias V. Cuyler. 1. Mr. Cuyler & 17 Sep claiming pay as a 2nd Luit. in the 12th reg. U.S. Army of Infantry; he claims 1800 pay from April 1 to May 1 at $25 per month. 2. Mr. Smith, by Master of 12th Reg. claims that there is no information from the war office respecting the statement of Mr. Cuyler‟s resignation as a 2nd Luit. in the 12th Reg. GenL 16 20 Dec 1773 Schenectady. From Christopher Yates. Outline of an answer to Harman Bradt and Abraham Wemple; both sides in previous letters have been given proposals regarding the trusteeship of city money. In this letter Mr. Yates says he wants to lay both sides of proposals, therefore the court immediately. GenL 17 2 Oct 1801 Daniel Hanshaw requesting wagon and horses to take the remainder of clothing as the season is late. GenL 18 2 Mar 1833 Fort Hunter. Gershom Van Voast to his father requesting an answer from his father if he can have the farm his partner, Nicholas Hill will manage the store if he can‟t have the farm he will continue in business alone. Mr. Hill is pressing him for an answer. GenL 19 17 Mar 1835 Schenectady. Memorandum for Gershom Van Vorst from Jacob Gebhard. Requesting Mr. Van Vorst to inform him if he has a buyer for his property on Washington St. The original sale fell through as the prospective buyer couldn‟t make a down payment before next April contrary to the original plan. GenL 20 15 May 1776 A copy of a letter to Mr. R. Carrey by Maj. Gen. Putnam. A bond with interest will be paid without any trouble at “your” pleasure. GenL 21 13 Apr 1763 For Reyer Schermerhorn from JWL Bleecker informing Mr. Schermerhorn that he doesn‟t know when he can accompany him regarding dividing the lands at Batton Hill (Battenkill) because of pressing work. GenL 22 16 Oct 1766 Schenectady. To Reyer Schermerhorm from Jno Glen, Jr. Mr. Glen states he will see Mr. Schermerhorn this day at 1 p.m. asking they are to meet B. Vrooman about getting a new charter. GenL 23 27 Jan 1767 Albany. To Reyer Schermerhorn from Jno Glen, Jr. asking Mr. S. to come to Albany to give his testimony re: Gerrit Suger (?). A jury of inquiry is to be held for said purpose, Jan. 29. GenL 24 20 Jun 1760 Kingston. CAT #400. From Charles Clinton to his son; letter from his father to son, news of home and advice. GenL 25 19 Sep 1829 Albany. To Gershom Van Voast from Tobias V. Guyler. Friendly letter stating news and information. GenL 26 Jan 1771 Schenectady. GenL 27 25 Feb 1825 To Gershom Van Vorst from Clark Bates. If Mr. V.V. wants to rent his farm, Mr. bates has a renter for him, Josiah Brown. GenL 28 n.d. Confidential letter to Robert Morris on the govt. of NY and his estimate of the leading men of that state from Alexander Hamilton. GenL 29 15 May 1823 Albany. To Mrs. Mary Van Schaick, Church Street, Schenectady from Christian Miller informing Mrs. VS of the death of a mutual friend. Mrs. Willett is invited to funeral. GenL 30 Aug 1814 Schenectady. Winson Stone to Gershom Van Voast re: payment of $40. Mr. Stone owed Van Voast. GenL 31 13 Sep 1814 Utica. James Butler to Gershom Van Voast, apprentice Butler claims he had not run away and that his bail should not be forfeited. GenL 32 28 Jul 1820 Schenectady. James Barley to Daniel Stark. Marley requested Stark for credit of $3. for note from John Adams. GenL 33 20 Jan 1830 From A.T.E. Lansing, notification of death of the sister of C.Y. Lansing. GenL 34 20 Jul 1816 Sanders Lansing to Gershom Van Voast re: proposition of the estate of Cornelius Glen. GenL 35 6 Oct 1818 Herkimer. L.S. Stone to Gershom Van Voast re: Stone informed VanVoast that he would pay for use of VanVoast‟s boat. GenL 36 18 Mar 1824 Albany. GenL 41 3 Nov 1831 From Thomas Betchill to G. Van Vorst sheriff instructing him how to send him money received for him. GenL 42 24 Aug 1809 From David Alexander to William Alexander; instructions about Gen. Oothout‟s bags and purchase of rye flour. GenL 43 23 Aug 1809 Letter to William Alexander of Sterling Mills from David Alexander requesting a shipment of rye flour. GenL 44 17 Jan 1719 Letter to unknown person from Barent Sanders re: suit against Mr. Van Vorst, also re: this person of fraud. GenL 45 16 Nov 1880 From J.V.L. Pruyn, Jr. to Jonathan Pearson correcting confusion of Frans Jansen whose wife was Marritje Gerrits with Frans Jansen whose wife was probably “Alida”. The first Frans Jansen had a child bpt. Marretje Decf. 13, 1665 while the second had a child Anna, born 11 May 1665; also, Johannes Pruyn who married Malia (?) Sanders; was born Mar 1, 1667 NOT 5 Jan 1663. APPARENTLY ANON PEARSON‟S FIRST FAMILIES OF SCHENECTADY OR ALBANY FAMILIES. GenL 46 2 May 1880 From John Sanders to Jonathan Pearson: inf. That he remembers his father saying that Dr. Nott obtained from the common council of Schenectady a grant of 3,000 acres of the common lands under the designation of gores and gussets. That they were about the most valuable of the tracts and that the country members of the council were opposed to the grant and indignant of Dr. Nott‟s successful ingenuity. GenL 47 18 Feb 1800 Copy of the citation of the Consistory of Stone Arabia in the case of Rev. CDA Pick GenL 48 31 Dec 1822 From William Austin to Jacob Swits re: cutting logs.
